Who are your top five picks for VP?
List your top five picks for Obama's Vice President, and explain why.

I figured we'd get some pretty good answers, and see who DU thinks should be Obama's pick.

At the end of the day, it's Obamas pick. And he'll make the choice, and I have to believe--he'll pick a great running mate. But who do you think he should pick? And why?

NUMBER FIVE- Bill Richardson. Incredible resume, a lot of experience. John McCain is aggressively courting Hispanic voters that he hopes to chip away from the Democratic block, I'm not sure he can...but Richardson would stop him in his tracks. And while I have to believe New Mexico will come back to the Democratic side, Richardson will help put that win in stone. And also help in states like Nevada and Colorado in the region of America where he governs as Governor of New Mexico.

NUMBER FOUR- Hillary Clinton. She would solidify the Democratic base, and help with white working class Americans. She would help us compete in states like Ohio, Missouri, Virginia and Pennsylvania; as well as long shot states like West Virginia and Arkansas. While she is certainly polarizing, she also carries one of the most well known political names in our country and while she is hated by many--she is loved and respected by many as well.

NUMBER THREE- Joe Biden. He brings the Washington experience that Obama lacks. He's got a lot of experience specifically on foreign policy, and could help bring a lot more credibility on that issue to the Obama campaign. Very likeable, and has a sharp tongue. He'd make a perfect attack dog, which is the traditional role for the VP pick.

NUMBER TWO- John Kerry. Many the same reasons as Joe Biden. A lot of experience, foreign policy guru, and he's shown an ability as a surrogate for Obama to be the attack dog for the campaign. He's ran a national race, and knows what mistakes you should avoid and has learned the lessons of a 'loss' in a Presidential election. Not only that but he's extremely well known because he was the nominee in 2004.

NUMBER ONE- John Edwards. Look at any poll, and he's electable. Despite losing the nomination, polls shown him as the best hope of winning in 2008. And now polls show him as the best VP pick for Obama. He's very well liked, and incredibly effective as a speaker. He's ran the race as a VP nominee before, and seen what to do and not to do. He's a populist whose seen as the working mans candidate, and the voice for the voiceless. He's very passionate about changing this country, and like Obama--he hasn't taken a dime from lobbyists, so he would balance the ticket as two guys who give people hope and inspire people, and who aren't lifetime politicians infected by a corrupt and rigged system. They'd make an incredible ticket.

Whose your picks? Let's hear it!

5.  Schweitzer, Kaine.....uh....yeah that's about it.
None of the other choices really appeal to me right now. I seriously doubt Obama will pick Schweitzer, so Kaine is my only hope.
