This is what it's like to work with conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham!

Here is a behind the scene look at Laura Ingraham on Fox News. She is such a lovely woman!

1. I am not a Laura I. fan, but she doesn't seem that unreasonable in the clip

Live broadcasting can be very stressful.

5. Did you watch the whole clip?
I noticed you posted two minutes after the link was posted and the clip is nine minutes and 14 seconds long. Otherwise, I can understand that live broadcasting can be very stressful (my husband has done live television before) but she keeps asking for background information half an hour before the show starts. It just seems to me that if you commit to doing a show (and presumably getting big bucks for it) that you should do some homework on your own before you're getting ready to go on live. Also, rather than coming in cold and not knowing who the guests are going to be seems to be a little overboard for me.

I mean, let's look at it this way. She's doing a show on Fox but she has no real control over it. She has no idea who the guests are or topics are going to be and she hasn't done any work before the show to prepare for it. To me, she comes off as nothing more than someone who agreed to do a show but didn't have the time to make sure that she had a competent staff nor did she want to take any time away from her busy schedule to prepare for the show herself. fwiw, it's like Fox could have stuck almost anyone in the chair and let them host the show.

9. I watched it yesterday
:)

Most show prep is done by assistants, from what I have gathered talking to people like Terri Gross. It looks like the Fox News crew was utterly incompetent.
Compared to the O'Reilly bit we've all seen, Laura seems completely level-headed. :)

12. Thanks
I thought that might be the case. I understand that most prep is done by assistants but, as a host, it would also seem to make sense to check up on them before air time. This would be especially true for a new show. You'd want to make sure the staff was getting things done the way you'd like or train them/get rid of them. Even then, the host should try to acquaint themselves with the show's topics before, not during, the show.

Otherwise I agree. She held her cool pretty well.

15. Her team seems like a bunch of idiots
"This is a trainwreck."

For once I agree with Laura Ingraham.

4. I only wish she had turbo diarrhea on top of all her other issues!
Then maybe she'd just shut the hell up and go away. Permanently.

6. Just seems ineffective at giving instructions.
Instead of saying "That didn't work, I need this instead," she says "God in Heaven that was awful, why does this keep happening, can someone fix it?"

I used to train managers, back when I had a life, to direct requests at a specific person, and not just gripe into the air. Don't say "Can someone get me an edited copy of this?" Say "John, get me an edited copy of this from Fred." That way John can't say "Well, I thought you meant someone else."

Mostly she was in over her head. Looks like someone used to doing it all herself instead of trusting staffers to follow instructions. When staffers bring you back shoddy work, you adapt to that, instead of complaining about what you don't have. Then you lecture the staffer when you're alone on what you really wanted, or you get a new staffer.

That was interesting to watch. I give her credit for not cursing, losing her temper, or attacking anyone, though she came close. Seems more even-keeled than most conservatives.

8. She's not easy to work with but Fox News appears incompetant...
maybe her crew was new and not working together well, but I could understand why she was angry.

I'd like to see outtakes of Bill O'Reilly prepping for his program. If his crew is as bad as Laura's, I'll bet he displays some Irish temper.

13. She has been on the list more than once
and he's acknowledged that he's dated her. In fact, the way I found out Olbermann had dated her was because he said as much as while he was naming her one of the Worst Persons.

This isn't the link to the time that KO acknowledged that he dated her but it is a link to one of the times she's been on the list. http://mediamatters.org/items/200708070003 It reads, in part:

From the August 6 edition of MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann:

OLBERMANN: Our runner-up, conservative water carrier Laura Ingraham, who just flat-out lied about The New York Times. She told Fox Noise that a Times editorial about the FISA law had included that, quote, "We should not update the surveillance law to meet current advances in technology. We are now in a blackout with some of this intelligence because of what The New York Times and what the Democrats have done."

Except that's not what the Times editorial said. It said, in fact, the exact opposite. It insisted on updating the law to meet current advances in technology. The Times wrote, quote, "Instead of asking Congress to address this anachronism, as it should, the White House sought to use it to destroy the 1978 spying law." This just in, conservatives don't know how to read. They merely skim.

Interestingly, KO's pronouncement matches up with what I saw on the video posted in the OP: "conservatives don't know how to read. They merely skim." Ingraham was prepping for her show with less than half an hour to go. How was she going to do this? Skim the research provided for her.

16. I remembered him saying something
and figured I google an example.

Look on the bright side, you and your wife think about each other a lot. That's better than thinking about others. ;)

fwiw, my husband and I don't have WPITW list. We're old-fashioned. We don't have a show but we do have our individual "World's Number One Asshole" of the day list. Not surprisingly, we're usually at the top of each other's list too. Fortunately, our list is a friendly, good-natured one over 99% of the time. When it is one of those 1% times, we go directly from "WNOAH" list to the Colbert-style "Who's Dead to Me Now" list.
