Can someone please tell the Obama Advance Team ...
... to QA ALL of the props?

IIRC, this isn't the first time this boo-boo has happened, and it looks like second graders are running his campaign.

What an especially awkward word to misspell - for a presentation at a University, no less. :hide:

(Note spelling of JUDGEMENT on the placard)

Thanks.

31. I was going to mention the flags...
I don't care for the over-population myself. And they are all stiff and unnatural! They would hang with a slight curl if they were left to their own. And what is with the cord in front? That's not right!

Former Cub Master... I handed out a lot of badges for correct flag handling!

46. Those are actually Treasury Guard Flags...they are the ones w/the
yellow/gold tassles and the two knotted cords.

Generally speaking they can be used in lieu of the standard Flag, but most people wouldn't know that, kind of a historical thing. The Treasury was initially the part of government that protected the president. No Secret Service until Grant came into office.

60. I don't think that has anything to do with the drape...
The draping is unnatural... had they been hanging naturally, the cord is not so prominent.

I'm not finding anything on "Treasury Guard Flag" except in reference to The Civil War. Not even in my reference books I used to teach about the American Flag for The Boy Scouts of America. Can you point me toward information?

66. One mention here as to the flag:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Assassination_Flags#Treasury_Guard_flags

I will have to look up the others, as I thoughT I had them bookmarked in my history folder, but I must have put them in another folder, or just not bookmarked them.

i have to agree, the flags certainly look "unnatural" in the way they "drape", it is as if they are held by a wire frame, personally, I don't like them in that position, they should drape freely.

One thing is for sure, those are actually "Treasury Flags" behind them. Only Treasury Flags are to have the gold trimming with the little tassles.

I have to edit this, The gold fringed flags were originally issued to the unit that guarded the Treasury, the Treasury has it's own flag/banner.

On an aside, it was the fringe that John Wilkes Booth caught his boot on, that made him fall awkwardly to the stage below breaking his leg. If I remember correctly, the treasury was assigned to guard the president at the time, there was no Secret Service until US Grant's first term in office.
