John McCain will be receiving $85 million and is raising $26,000 a pop through the RNC. In addition, Republicans see the House and Senate as unlikely so they will be pouring everything they have into the Presidency.

3. McCain + RNC = $100M, Obama + DNC = $70M
And RNC will be more ruthless than McCain.

27. wrong
Obama has 70+ million by himself
DNC has 20+ million

Together they have about the same amount as the Repukes.

2. This is good news. The pukes are giving up on the House and Senate Races.
And, they are putting all of their money on a losing Pres. candidate.

The New Majority is coming.

5. Keep an eye on the trends.
Things are going well. Sure there will be ups and downs, and dirty tricks, but the trends so far look very good.

6. Why this new metric of national committee + candidate fundraising?
Edited on Thu Jul-17-08 07:45 AM by high density
Whenever McCain is doing bad they just change the numbers so it looks like the race is still competitive.

McCain's big money people are maxed out already, so obviously this is going to benefit the RNC.

14. OK, but I do not recall focus on this during the 2004 campaign
The media has been going out of their way to question Obama's fundraising prowess since the primary ended and he opted out of the public financing system. The goals of the national committee should be broader than electing a presidential candidate in my opinion. If the RNC wants to ignore the House and Senate races and instead focus on the turd that is John McCain, then that's good for us.

8. I think it's good the msm is encouraging people to donate more.
I just wish the system was different and we didn't have to donate so much to candidates and we could be encouraged to donate more to food banks.

9. yeah, the way Chuck Todd has been talking up Obama's "cash flow" prob,
I figured it would be somewhere in the 30s. Sure, we already know that the RNC raises more money than the DNC, Chuck...I wonder what the July numbers for Obama will be like. Chuck Todd has been sucking lately. Today he said that Obama and Bush have similar personalities, and they run similar campaigns with the emphasis on loyalty. But, doesn't MSNBC sometimes try to say that Obama has a "loyalty problem" and he "tosses people under the bus" (ENOUGH with the under the bus references). When McCain tried to flush his Gramm, Chuck Todd said "Hey, how about how McCain threw Phil Gramm under the bus, sort of Obama style?" God, these people constantly contradict themselves. There is a difference between valuing loyalty and valuing loyalty above everything else.

Edited on Thu Jul-17-08 07:54 AM by flpoljunkie
They have egg on their faces. That's why 'Chuckie T' worked so hard in his MSNBC segment on 'Morning Jerk' this morning to pooh-pooh Obama's eye popping $52 million dollars.

21. What has become clear to THIS MSNBC watcher
ever since the primary ended is that Chuck has a lot of good buddies at the RNC that shares information with him. Right now for me if it isn't Keith or Rachel I ain't watching it...
