7. 20+ years of cultivating the Corporate Media. He's their pet. They're his pets. |
|
The corporate media are the ones desperately pushing those myths. Instead of noting JSM III's 95% voting with Bush, they'll chose the few disagreements to show what a "maverick" he is. Instead of noting his foreign policy knowledge gaffes, they'll say being a POW confers automatic national security creds. And now, they may join John Sidney McCain III's campaign officials to dismiss his rape joke quite casually.
McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said McCain's humor is, more broadly, central to his appeal.
"He's long said that he's said and done things in the past that he regrets," Rogers said. "You've just got to move on and be yourself — that's what people want. They want somebody who's authentic, and this kind of stuff is a good example of McCain being McCain."
So you see, all of those barbecues in the seven homes of their little buddy John Sidney McCain III, and trips on his Staid Talk Express, paid off quite well for him. He's got them all working hard to protect him and access to their free hotdogs and Bud.

9. I think Rachel Maddow called it. The media is framing for him. Last week should have destroyed him |

If Obama had had an advisor say Americans were whiners and then KEPT that adviser, he'd be toast.

10. the Bush Apologists I know (who all say they now can't stand the guy - what took so f'n long!?) |

say it is because McCain is against torture, but that he was trapped by Feingold on that vote.
I think that's who it was anyway. I barely pay attention to what they say, but it was something about how he objected to the specific language in the bill, and did not want to prevent the Intel community from doing it's job. All hogwash and spin, of course.
That's the problem - no matter what happens, they always find a way to either ignore the facts, or spin them somehow. Just like how they don't like Bush now, yet will defend him, and of course voted for him twice without once considering the connection or taking responsibility for their own actions.
