Remember four years ago how some people here were advocating McCain as Kerry's Veep? |
|
It just came to mind when reading through the threads about Hagel as a running mate to Obama
The more things change....

5. Obama needs Hillary on the ticket for VP if he's serious about winning the GE |

I know that drives the fundamentalist liberals nuts, but that's the way it is.

6. We need someone more to the left, not further to the right than Obama is, as a counter balance. |

By DINO do you mean someone that is not of the fundamentally pure liberal persuasion?

She may have been comfortable using Republican style tactics in the primaries, but if you look at her positions and her voting record she is far from a DINO. I am not sure how I feel about her for VP but I think it's unfair to call her a DINO.

8. lets not go there with he NEEDS her |
|
I'm not against him choosing her, but to say he needs her is to imply he's in trouble, which he's not if you look state by state.

2. I remember that I thought the same thing about it then as I think about the Hagel crap now. |
|
These rumors are started by Republicans and provocateurs in order to sow division, dissension and discouragement among supporters of the Democratic candidate. AND NEITHER OF THESE RUMORS HAS ANY BASIS IN FACT.

But then, I didn't spend 24/7 on DU making sure that I never missed a Kerry thread, so I supposed I could have missed it.
I think that if there was an ongoing conversation, with repeated suggestions that Kerry choose a republican as a running mate, I'd remember.
My response then would be the same as now:
1. I don't vote for republicans, so that ticket would lose my vote.
2. What will DU do, if such a scenario becomes reality, and the rules become contradictory? Will all DUers who refuse to support a republican be tombstoned because he's on the ticket with a Democrat?

4. I remember a few threads that threw the idea out there, |
|
But I also remember some pretty heavy pushback.
