Lieberman: Obama prepared to accept defeat in Iraq
RAW STORY
Published: Sunday July 20, 2008

Fox's Chris Wallace talked to Sen. Joe Lieberman and Sen. Evan Bayh about Sen. Barack Obama's plan to withdraw troops from Iraq. Lieberman described Obama's plan as "retreat and defeat."

Lieberman said, "If Barack Obama's policy in Iraq had been implemented, he couldn't be in Iraq today, he was prepared to accept retreat and defeat and that would mean today al Qaeda would be in charge of parts of Iraq, Iranian-backed extremists would be in charge of other parts of Iraq. There'd be civil war and maybe even genocide."

Sen. Bayh responded saying, "Barack Obama was not for losing in Iraq. Barack didn't want the war to begin with. John McCain opposed surging troops in afghanistan until last week. Was john for losing in afghanistan? I don't think so. Now you have Maliki, even President Bush, are moving toward Barack Obama's position."

2. Well, ok, it's pretty nice seeing Bayh defending our guy and not surprising
but perptually despairing to hear Lieberman knocking our guy down.

Jesus. Let's win a real big majority in the Senate and shove Lieberman out of his committee chairs.

6. Dumb explanation by Vanilla Bayh. He should have countered the
idea that Iraq is a win/lose situation, but instead he bought into Lieberworm's framing. Jesus, keep this idiot far away from the VP slot.

8. What would define a win? Did Joe say?
WDM? None there, put it in the win column

Republican Guard? Not in Iraq, put it in the win column (but we might want to do something about it here in the USA)

Saddam's evil sons? No more, and another win column entry

Saddam? Dictator Interruptius, another tick in the win column.

Private contractors making billions without much oversight? Mission accomplished.

What else does Lieberman think needs to be done? Or are we supposed to stay there en masse forever like all the other places where the war was won and over? Oh, wait... we pretty much left just token forces in other lands didn't we?

What the hell is the point of the war? Have the hawks EVER come to a consensus on that? No, because there was no point to it all.

How do you win a pointless war? By ending it!

"Lieberman said, "If Barack Obama's policy in Iraq had been implemented, he couldn't be in Iraq today..."

And that, Senator, is what the majority of Americans and the world would prefer.
