Spiegel stands by its story on Obama/al-Maliki
Despite shrub's goons trying to pressure al-Maliki in an attempt at damage control.

Here's what Speigel says about the interview with al-Maliki:

"Obama is pleased, but McCain certainly is not. In an interview with SPIEGEL, Iraqi Prime Minister al-Maliki expressed support for Obama's troop withdrawal plans. Despite a half-hearted retraction, the comments have stirred up the US presidential campaign. SPIEGEL stands by its version of the conversation."

Those guys tend to be more truthful and take their government to task. They're media is not a set of conglomerates who can be "really" be threatened by government parties, although I'm sure it has happened.

I hope the BBC takes a hold of this and runs with it.

Wow, great to hear this.

6. I'm sure this story will follow Obama to Germany.
He will be asked about it once he gets in that country. ie, Did Mr Maliki assure you that he agrees with your plan to get troops out in 16 months?
