McCain Receives $23,100/Year in Social Security
McCain receives SS to the tune of $23,100 per year. When asked how long he has been receiving it, he shrugged his shoulders, gave the usual "deer in headlight" wide eyes and said, "ummm, ever since I was eligible, I guess". In other words, he doesn't even know since it's done by accountants, etc. It's pocket change for him (he declares over $400,000 income and his wife is estimated to be worth 100 million). The SS dept said that a person isn't required to take the money. Ahhhh, but in the true tradition of the rich "show me da' goddamn money 'cause it's mine"! This bastard has the audacity to call SS a disgrace and want to jerk it out from under the tremendous number of elderly who wonder how they are even going to stretch it to cover heat, meds, etc. This is why I detest the thought of these arrogant sons-of-bitches running this government again! Indeed, McCain knows NOTHING about the economy - after all, it's all in your head, you know!

1. When the hell did he work at a Social Security job?
The Senate has it's own pension I believe so his years in the Senate don't qualify, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm mistaken.

10. Also apparently from his years in Senate.
I'm with you though, he could have not applied or returned the money.

11. "ummm, ever since I was eligible, I guess."
This clown is so appallingly clueless.

I'd like to pull the old recruit wrangler snark on him: "Eager young space cadet, bend over. Put your head between your legs. Look up. That's your ass. Now, stand up. See that depression in the dirt over there. Yeah, that one. That's a hole in the ground. Observe the difference. Got it, got it, got it? Hope so -- for your sake."

17. Insane McCain was only in the navy 23 years, from 1958 to 1981.

23. No, his time at the naval academy doesn't count - sorry, you're wrong.
He wasn't serving in the navy until he was enlisted as an ensign.

Seriously, if you don't know what the fuck you are talking about, don't talk about the subject!!

Students at the naval academy are not considered as being "enlisted in the navy", they are considered "officers in training"

6. That's not the point.
Just last week he called Social Security a "disgrace" and you can be damn sure if he had it his way, you and I would never receive a dime from the system even though we also earned it.

7. Heh, but he should be a good example and send the checks back....
It's not like he needs it or anything.

If he did that, he could lead by example. How better to show America how much he doesn't want to burden the young people. You know the young people who pay for the previous generations of retired Americans?

13. I'm on disability retirement and was denied twice but SS overturned..
the decisions on appeal....mean while 3yrs have passed and nothing. There hearing judge said I should just go back to work twice when he denied benefits. Of course that would have thrown out my disabilty retirement. The culture of denial game goes on .

16. What a hypocrite!!! "Social Security is a disgrace, it should never have been started" - McCain.
What a two-faced lying piece of shit McCain has turned out to be, after railing against social security for years, we find out he is getting benefit checks from the government for it.

And for those people who thinks he should be allowed to keep his seocial security, I suggest you read up on why social security was created to begin with - it wasn't created for millionaires!

19. Do you have a link?
I'd like to write a LTTE here in AZ - considering he just skipped the Medicare vote, this should dissolve what little support he has here with seniors, since most of them can't even get that much a year!

20. I don't argue that he's due the money, but that it shows his hypocrisy.
He's supposed to be the guy who wants to cut spending for programs that relate to benefits, virtually across the board, but he sucks down more than almost all retirees. His disability dwarves the money truly fully disabled people get, people who literally require constant care.

It is shameful that he fills his pockets with such government funds, while speaking out against the funds others, who need truly need such help, get.
