In major reversal, James Dobson flips for McCain
Edited on Sun Jul-20-08 08:44 PM by JackBeck
Joe Sudbay (DC)

Principles don't really matter to the leader of the extreme right wing James Dobson, partisan politics do. Yes, the theocrats are getting behind the Republican, which is no surprise. But, what is interesting is just how much crow Dobson has to eat.

Dobson in February 2008 as reported by http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=55665">World Nut Daily:

Evangelical Christian leader James Dobson has not endorsed a candidate for the Republican nomination, but his statement today declaring he would sit out the general election if Sen. John McCain becomes the GOP winner was quickly highlighted by Gov. Mitt Romney's campaign.

Dobson, who noted he was not speaking in his capacity as founder and head of Focus on the Family, said he's "deeply disappointed" the Republican Party appears to be ready to nominate the Arizona senator, who is considered the front-runner ahead of tonight's results in the 22 Super Tuesday contests nationwide.

"I am convinced Sen. McCain is not a conservative and, in fact, has gone out of his way to stick his thumb in the eyes of those who are," Dobson said in a statement read on Laura Ingraham's nationally syndicated radio show. "He has at times sounded more like a member of the other party."

Dobson in July 2008 as reported by the http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iBvP50s1jq-cqtunx1aVlc54lQqgD921QJOO0">Associated Press:

Conservative Christian leader James Dobson has softened his stance against Republican presidential hopeful John McCain, saying he could reverse his position and endorse the Arizona senator despite serious misgivings.

"I never thought I would hear myself saying this," Dobson said in a radio broadcast to air Monday. "... While I am not endorsing Senator John McCain, the possibility is there that I might."

These anti-gay conservatives become more and more insignificant by the hour. I can't wait for the day these freaks crawl back into the dark recesses of Public Access TV from whence they slithered.

3. Like all other posters here and to come here, I agree: Did anyone think otherwise?
Dobson is pure evil, without a drop of the milk of human kindness.

He's all about power, not gospel. Oh, and wealth, too. One of the most disgusting persons on the planet, and among the most obvious.

5. Just saw my first PP anti-McCain ad.
I was cheering.

They need to air it every 10 minutes or so, to wake the women of this country up. This is NOT just about abortion, ladies! The HHS department has JUST CATEGORIZED BIRTH CONTROL AS ABORTION!

The sooner the women in this country wake up that this asshole and his co-horts are trying to knock us back to last century, the sooner we can neutraize his hateful effect on this country.

16. It actually showed the footage...
Edited on Mon Jul-21-08 05:11 AM by fudge stripe cookays
of someone asking him that if Viagra was covered, why wasn't birth control, and him hemming and hawing and looking like an idiot.

It was FABULOUS!

I stand with my gay friends, and so does my dog, who helped me register voters at the Pride Parade a few years ago. :patriot:

14. LOL!
And we should focus on and scream it from the rooftops how insignificant their opinions become the closer we get to this election.

8. The Repiggies ALWAYS Goose-Step Into Line. Always.
That is why we cannot assume that any of their apparent division will exist on Election Day.
