Wow - Barack's New Ride

CHICAGO---In a newly painted 757--with the Obama sunrise logo on the tail and "Change we can believe in" painted on the sides--the Middle East and Europe bound Obama campaign press plane was poised to lift off Sunday evening from Midway Airport to meet up with presumptive presidential Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) after he finishes visits to Afghanistan, Kuwait and Iraq.







Obama's newly reconfigured plane is divided into first class for the candidate and his closest advisors--such as strategist David Axelrod, who is on the flight; business class seats, occupied Sunday by foreign affairs advisors such as Denis McDonough and coach, where 41 journalists who are part of the traveling Obama press corps are seated.

But it was less shocking when I read it's a charter. With the paint job and all, I thought he BOUGHT it.

He's gotta have transportation, and I think the $$$ spent on the paint job is money well spent in the image game - looks impressive. It's almost like his Pre-Air Force One plane - you know who's inside.

Obama ha over $ 70 million in cash reserves and McCain less than $ 30 million.


He didn't buy the plane he just leased it and painting is a relatively minro expense but it looks like a million dollars.

had John Edwards' name on his plane too. I think the website address even changed. I guess he could keep all of it the same and have them repaint the website address info if he plans to do that.... Or perhaps he will keep it the same?

22. Wellstone's plane was perfectly fine. The problem was the two pilots, each of which

had a history of incompetency. One had been rebuked several times for sitting back and letting his co-pilot handle everything. The other had been fired multiple times for incompetence; most recently for failing to keep his hand on the throttle. The final readings on the plane before it disappeared from radar showed it dropping to stall speed. The post-crash inspection found absolutely nothing wrong with the airplane (other than the fact that it had crashed of course).
