New McCain Ad Blames Obama For Gas Prices

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/07/21/politics/horserace/entry4277018.shtml

John McCain's campaign has released a new television ad, "Pump," that directly blames Barack Obama for rising gas prices.

The campaign says the spot will air on cable and in Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, (northern) Virginia, and Wisconsin.

"Gas prices - $4, $5, no end in sight, because some in Washington are still saying no to drilling in America," an announcer says as the spot opens on a solitary gas pump.

"No to independence from foreign oil," the announcer continues. "Who can you thank for rising prices at the pump?"

At this point, a photo of Obama appears onscreen, and chants of "Obama, Obama" can be heard in the background.

3. That's just fucking stupid. Why not blame Obama for 9/11, or global warming, or
Darfur? Makes about as much sense.

21. Wingnuts still blame Bill Clinton for 9/11.
I imagine Obama is also responsible for Hurricane Katrina, and for the Patriots losing the Super Bowl. ;-)

5. Yeah, a junior senator can be blamed for the inadequate energy policy of the last 30 years.
Edited on Mon Jul-21-08 10:49 AM by ryanmuegge
They think people are stupid. We'll see if they're right. Though judging by the polls on the offshore drilling issue, many Americans are in fact completely idiotic.

There's a very obvious, simple question that can be asked here: who has had a greater opportunity to do something about our energy policy, a guy who has been in the US Senate for three years, or the guy who has been there for almost thirty? The Republicans have a majority in the senate (Lieberman, Cheney as the tie-breaker, and veto power from the executive branch), so what the Democrats want to do should have no effect on policy. Blaming the Democrats is totally baseless.

15. This shit needs to be hit harder than the gas tax holiday gimmick...
These assholes are using people's fears of gas prices to give more to the fucking oil companies. It's like hiring the guy who stole your wallet to watch your house while you're away...

:wtf:

6. Again, McSame shows how clueless he is.
I think today's high gas prices can be blamed directly on the Bush Energy Policy, which is super secret and the contents of which no one knows about.

Unless you happen to be Bush, Cheney, or the CEO of one of the oil companies that helped write the policy.

Can you say conflict of interest?

Of course, if we had a Congress that was worth a steaming pile of sh!t, there would be an active investigation into this underway. And not just the orchestrated questions done for the consumption of the American people, but a real, honest to goodness investigation into war profiteering, price gouging, etc.

10. A lot of Right Wingers believe that crap
I spoke to one that thought that "politicians are hiding the truth about ANWR" and that "ANWR really has more oil than Saudi Arabia" :eyes:. They don't have much to say when you tell them that we EXPORT one third of America's oil!

8. According to Bush's Department of Energy
The Department of Energy estimates that if we start the McCain/Bush offshore drilling plan today, we could lower gas prices by 6 cents - but not until the year 2025.

12. Oh goody, I will get to see the one for Missouri.
I just love all these mccain ads that are shown endlessly on the Missouri and sometimes Kentucky stations. :sarcasm:

Illinois is not blessed with them, but most of our stations in the southern part of the state are from our neighboring states. If Obama wanted to hit them hard in Missouri, all they would have to do is make an ad and have something in it emphasizing the mccain connection to Budweiser and the fact of how much Cindy (and John) is making on its sale. Add then have the photo of bush holding hands with the Saudi prince and then the one of bush and mccain hugging. "Unemployment too high? Oil prices too high? If a picture says a thousand words, then enough said."

13. Well, the McBush campaign thinks voters are very stupid if this
is their ad...Unfortunately, some will buy their non-sense, but most voters can see thru the Republican style attack/scare ads, & most are f-ing tired of it....

17. Time to smack the shit out of McLame on this issue
Use comedic delivery to show McCain doesn't even know what the hell he's talking about...perhaps something using how it is "psychological" to start drilling...

23. It's Obama's fault that oil companies are capping their domestic wells?
It's Obama's fault that demand is skyrocketing in India and China? (and gosh, I wonder where they got the jobs to live the middle class lifestyle?)

Try again, assholes.
