If Senator Obama does not get the same level of security McCain got
he should come back home now. Senator John McCain got all the neccessary
security arrangements when he traveled during the height of the Democratic
primaries and now that Senator Obama is getting all the media coverage the
state department has all of a sudden decided to send a memo to all
embassies of country Senator Obama will be visiting to restrict service to
any member of the traveling group.

Provide de minimis assistance to the candidate with logistical arrangements," said the cable, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Times. "If the campaign staff wants to rent a bus for press, tell them where they can rent a bus.

This is a way of exposing his security, they are trying to leave him open for an out an
out attack on his life.

Would this get a media play?

:grr:

4. This has nothing to do with Obama's security arrangements.
From the article at your link:

She banned embassies from providing and paying for transportation "unless security considerations require otherwise." But she demanded "support to the candidate's Secret Service protective detail."

The secretary also let diplomats brief Mr. McCain and Mr. Obama before a meeting, and even attend meetings "if the candidate allows" it.

She forbade them, however, to "hold or arrange receptions or public events for the candidate," to "arrange the candidate's meetings" or to "use official funds and resources, beyond a de minimis level, to support a political trip."

5. Why wasn't a copy of the same instruction
sent during McCain's foreign tour, why now when Senator Obama was about to
depart for the ME tour did they have to surreptitiously send a memo to all
embassies to offer minimum help.

6. I don't know any details about McCain's foreign tour, but this is from
the article you link to:

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has instructed U.S. overseas missions to provide only minimal support to foreign visits by the two main presidential candidates, Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain, forbidding diplomats to hold events or arrange meetings for them.

-------------------

It sounds as though the instructions she gave here would be the same for both candidates. The State Dept. must appear to be impartial.

7. He is more than making up for it in great media coverage.
He has the three network anchors with him. McCain might get Jimmy Olson and Lois Lane on his trip.
