Poll: Obama Holds Healthy Lead In Ohio
I don't know how accurate Public policy polling is (I think they did get Ohio right in the primaries, does anyone remember? Though I remember times that they were incorrect as well) and I know it's just one poll in the middle of July, but I welcome any news like this.

Poll: Obama Holds Healthy Lead In Ohio
By Greg Sargent - July 21, 2008, 1:09PM
We'd been wondering when the next Ohio poll would come along, and Public Policy Polling has just released one finding Obama holding onto a healthy eight-point lead in Ohio:

Obama 48% (50% last month)
McCain 40% (39% last month)

The three-point shift is within the margin of error.

The numbers suggest Obama's problems with blue-collar whites in this industrial state may have been overstated: He's only trailing McCain among whites by four points, 46%-42%. Nor does he appear to have a problem with female voters: Obama's leading among them by 20 points.

2. That is good news
but as an Ohioan, and an election protection volunteer since 2004, and EVEN WITH a new SOS who thinks the machines are evil too, I do not trust the Republicans at ALL when it comes to election stealing in Ohio...fake mailers, bad info, fake phone calls, they do them ALL here...

A big lead is not enough here, or in ANY state for that matter. I urge everyone who is able to give a few hours of yourself at a poll location to make sure people can vote....please

3. I like PPP's trend for Obama in Ohio
Other polling agencies are showing Ohio very close.

Big

6. I don't think they were ever really fooled. Not the majority.
Ohio's had its left-leaning majority hidden by election theft for several election cycles. They never were quite the Bush fans everyone thinks they were.

5. After Bush shafted the state that helped get him elected how lame can these people be to continue to
support the McBush people?

Not as high a spread, but moving nicely in the right direction.

10. This is why we need to only post polls occassionally.. someone is posting....
... a Rassmussen poll showing opposite results.

I wish DU'ers would only post polls on a weekly basis..

By the way -- if you've ever been polled by Rasmusssen, they are major "push pollers".

They've been polling our area a LOT lately and after you indicate you're voting for Obama, they run you through a series of questions making sure you'd still vote for him if "that, that and the other"

12. Rasmussen's Ohio poll is more realistic.
And it has Obama down by 10.

13. So says you. ...Have you ever partaken in a Rasmussen poll?

They ask you who you're planning to vote for and if you say Obama, they run you through the mill with secondary questions asking if you'd still vote for him if he wanted to raise taxes, or if he did nothing about gas prices, etc..

The other pollsters who have called are pretty cut and dry. Who are you planning to vote for -- period.

None of that push-polling crap that Rasmussen did when they called me last week.

So what if they've gotten a few polls right.. Even a broken watch is right twice a day.

14. This is exactly what I suspected. Especially since they've flaunted their "slanted media" questions
So disgusting.

15. Creepiest poll I've ever taken!

And I've been polled more this year than ANY year!!

Blue in AK said she's not getting any polls yet.. but for some reason, every night it seems right around 6:30 p.m., another poll calls in.

Last night there were TWO in a row!

16. Someone on another site pointed out that Rasmussen always shows Obama losing in Ohio.
They haven't once had him ahead.

Interesting, given all of the other polls that have shown different results.

There is no way Obama is losing the 18-29 year old vote there.
