Speculation swirls around Patrick appointment
Edited on Mon Jul-21-08 01:11 PM by polmaven
While I agree wholeheartedly that Governor Patrick would make a fine AG, or other cabinet appointment,

1)I must say to President Obama....HE'S OURS! YOU CAN'T HAVE HIM!...We here in Massatwoshits need him too much!

2)I really think that President Obama's first SCOTUS appointment HAS to be a woman.

I do believe his VP needs to be a white male, 'cause here in the U.S., (the most advanced and forward thinking country in the world), 2 African Americans or an African American and a woman on the ticket would just make way too many heads explode, and a loss would be the result.

But with the resignation of Justice O'Connor, and the whole "Harriet-gate" fiasco, I really believe a woman needs to be chosen before an African American male for SCOTUS.

I know, I know....I have put on my flame retardant gear....we have only one African American on SCOTUS as well as only one woman! But I really think an African American president needs to appoint a woman first. African American or white, it NEEDS to be a woman.

1. Now according to the Liberal Credo, regardless of exploding heads you MUST do the right thing
even if it means costing the election. No sense in being pragmatic or realistic about things.

2. Well, I am among the few
who has actually gotten more liberal as I have gotten older, (Conventional Wisdom says it is the other way around) and I have decided, in my Polmaven Credo, that ya cain't git much of anything "done" if ya don't win, so......um, .....so.....Well, just, so there, Liberal Credo!

4. To be a Liberal you must care more about what is noble and righteous than winning.
Winning is for those who are too shallow to really love the Constitution. Besides, if Obama wins then we will just have to start cannibalizing him. There's nothing more tasty to a Democrat than another filleted Democrat. It's a delicacy. :9

7. Absolutely.
That would be GREAT. (Can you just imagine the emergency room increase for treatment of apoplectic shock)?

6. She'd better be young
2)I really think that President Obama's first SCOTUS appointment HAS to be a woman.

I personally do not care about the sex or racial composition of the first appointment, but am fine if it's a woman, just so long as she's no older than 45.

Given the precendent set with the Alito and Roberts appointments, any president would be foolish to appoint any Supreme Court Justice over the age of 45.
