Novak: McCain VP Announcement coming this week to take attention away from Obama's trip
Sources close to Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign are suggesting he will reveal the name of his vice presidential selection this week while Sen. Barack Obama is getting the headlines on his foreign trip. The name of McCain's running mate has not been disclosed, but Mitt Romney has led the speculation recently.

10. Agreed
the old man will have already played the last "best" hand he has, for the rest of the campaign, to attempt to seize control of the dialogue.

22. Exactly! Obama's forcing McCain to play "Follow The Leader."
It's awesome. And let's be honest, how much excitement is McCain expecting to generate here? I can't think of a single Republican who has enough star power or name recognition to steal Obama's thunder while he's overseas.

It'll probably be Romney, which is great for us. Because Romney's an arrogant rich jerkoff asshole, who spent the entire GOP Primary trying to out-Bush Bush. :-)

5. I just posted this. You know I'd rather he do it this week than the Fri after the Dem conv.
I think Obama has already gotten a huge plus out of this trip. And he still has all those interviews coming up. I hope McCain does announce this week, he'll look desperate.

14. New Name Generating Buzz - Former Beauty Contestant Sarah Palin
I read that in the fine tradition of Fox News RW women, that McCain was considering Alaska's governor Sarah Palin, who is a former beauty contestant. It does make me wonder whether it is just a coincidence that so many of Fox's women newcasters are blonde bombshells. Indeed, Susan Estrich referred to them as the Anns in reference to Ann Coulter. So, maybe the buzz is true, and John McCain picks Sarah Palin:

17. She, honestly, would be his best pick,.
The conservatives like her, and she has some cross-over appeal.

But, Mcdubya is a misogynist, hates women, calls his wife a c_nt and tells rape jokes. I doubt it will be a woman.

20. I Think He Has No Choice - Interesting Visual Seeing Sarah and Cindy
John McCain and two women twenty years his junior. I think John McCain has to pick her. She fits Susan Estrich's visual description of an "Ann."

21. I doubt it
She was only elected 2 years ago so it would undercut McCain's criticism of Obama plus she just had a baby a few months ago.

33. The buzz has come and gone. Apparently she is being investigated for
interference in getting a state trooper who was married to her sister fired after they got a divorce. Ooops. Plus, her new baby has Downs Syndrome--sorry, but even from a feminist perspective, if McManiac dies in office (not too out of the realm), that's a lot on your plate already to step up and be President. She's pretty, and hasn't been in office long enough for people to hate her yet--that was pretty much her only appeal.

That would piss off evangelicals even more AND a lot of people don't like his "slick" pretty boy look and act.

It would also draw a huge disparity between McCain and his VP...Mittens would overshadow McCain. Maybe they will be betting on McCain not making it til' November?

38. John Mc Cain, Master of the anti-climax. This campaign is aready down to

a choice between the candidates themselves.

It's a two man race and the VP choices will
make little difference this time around.
