Same day as Barack speaks in Berlin. Just reported on ABC News that McCain will be in Louisiana for a "major announcement" that day. If he's announcing his VP pick, that means it's Jindal.

He definitely has to roll the dice, and that's a Hail Mary pick.

Jindal, the no exceptions anti-abortion candidate.

A few of the foot draggers who won't back Barack might have second thoughts about that one.

65. If it's because of the location, it could be
Haley Barbour, Governor of Mississippi.

Then he could contrast the "bad" New Orleans response with the "good" Mississippi response.

I'm skeptical of the whole VP thing. Why would McCain give up the advantage of picking last? Makes no sense to me.

Of course there's no reason McCain should make sense to me anyway.

15. A DUer posted that Robert Novak reported that McCain will be
naming his VP pick this week. LA makes it seem like it sure could be Jindal. What other reason could McCain have for making his "major announcement" there?

For what it's worth - the MSBNC Veepstakes voters chose Romney as their pick for VP, so those who cared enough to vote might be less than thrilled with Jindal.

McCain needs racist votes if he's going to have a prayer of stopping Obama.

Choosing Jindal would probably make those voters go to Bob Barr.

Then again, I hadn't thought about the fact that McCain is running his campaign like an idiot.

Although maybe this time he could go into more detail about the bottled hot water for dehydrated babies thing.

68. Jindal just said today he was not going to be the VP. He did not sugar coat it.
I think McCain is trying to be slick. I think it is Romney. They picked Louisiana because of Katrina and the economic problems down there. Surprised he did not pick Ohio or something though. I absolutely do not believe it is Jindal.

71. I actually think you could be right. Who knows what they're pulling. Weird, though.
How is it "slick" to go down to Louisiana to name Romney? It's just weird.

Maybe it will be Brownie. Perfect for McCain, and gets the Lippizanner vote.

70. Love that he was so scared of Barack's positive coverage that he had to play his
trump card early. That means he can't halt Barack's big mo after the dem convention. Plus Barack will know who McCain's VP is before he makes his pick. Win--win...for Barack.

73. Jindal has a problem and that is those who call 800 numbers forhelp on their computers.
To hear someone with an obvious accent saying "This is Elmer, how can I help you?" is a little strange. I certainly don't hate anybody with a foreign accent, but I am annoyed that AOL keeps telling me that I should call a number that is answered by "Elmer" when it is obvious that that is NOT his name!!!

I try to move past this and talk to "Elmer" and enlighten him on my problem. I often answer the phone asking if I want to "reduce my credit card debt" or "refininace my loan" by saying "Take me off your list!"

I still get calls, crazy as that seems!

It's okay, just not very fast...

Put Jindal on the republican ticket, and things gets dicier for McCain. Those racists might actually vote for Barr instead.

85. It's gonna be Mittens Romney. Take it to the bank.
This is potentially a good thing for Obama. First off, they shoot their wad, blowing McCain's last remaining wild card in late July, which is slightly crazy.

Second, nobody makes McCain look like McSame more than Mitt "I'd Double Down on Gitmo, President Bush was AWESOME" Romney. There are some absolutely priceless soundbytes out there from the Primary Season.

That cable news idiots will claim this will hurt Obama in Michigan, but it won't. Romney's a Mormon Mountain West candidate, no matter what his pedigree says. And the last Veep in American History chosen to deliver a state was Lyndon Johnson.

We'll be rejoicing on Thursday, if you ask me. :-)

Chris Owens is a United States performer, club owner and entrepreneur who bases her act out of the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana. She has been a French Quarter fixture and celebrity from the start of the 1960s through the early 21st century. Though perhaps not a name of world-wide recognition, Owens is extremely well known in Louisiana and throughout the U. S. South. Tourists visiting the famous Bourbon Street cannot miss huge posters of her wearing revealing costumes as they walk by her nightclub.

without doing serious damage to the Gulf coast people.

Let Dolly veer toward New Orleans such that McCain has to cancel out, and then let her fizzle down to a summer thunderstorm instead of a life-threatening hurricane.
