Ridiculous: Media Continues to Push Its Own Story That It's Biased for Obama with Biased Poll
This recent campaign by the media to spread the false story that it (the media) is biased in favor of Obama keeps hitting new lows of Orwellian disinformation.

MSNBC has a poll up with the question "Is Democrat Barack Obama unfairly receiving more coverage than Republican John McCain?" The choices are:

--Yes, the media has a liberal bias. No one should be surprised by this.
--No, media coverage is based on newsworthiness. McCain is just not as newsy as Obama.
--Sometimes, but it's a long campaign. There weren't a lot of McCain complaints during Obama's problems with Rev. Wright.

So basically, you can't respond to the poll without conceding that Obama has unfairly received more coverage. I'd tell people to DU the poll (it's at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25785762?GT1=43001), but the poll is fundamentally un-DU-able. John McCain wins no matter how you answer.

If this were an honest poll, in addition to wording the question differently, they would provide an answer along the lines of: "No. Although at times Obama may receive more coverage, much of the coverage of him has been negative, compared to the consistently positive coverage of McCain."

But that wouldn't fit with the media's campaign to portray itself as dishonest and biased in favor of the Democratic nominee. :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

Folks, remember how bad the media was in the run up to the Iraq war? We're starting to see the same thing in the run up to this presidential election. McCain's campaign and the rest of the right wing seem to be orchestrating all the stories. This isn't just a complicit media. It's a media that is actively involved in persuading Americans to vote for the inferior candidate.

2. Can you imagine the shock a recent college grad will experience..
If they go work for one of these hack outfits?

I wasn't a journalism major, but I bet the first paragraph in the textbook says something about "Integrity and accuracy" in the media.

12. Actually, I think the people pulling the strings must be pretty smart, so I'm not surprised
they have college educations. The US media is very good at hiding its true intentions and deflecting attention with bullshit stories like this.

15. It's not just CNN and MSNBC
It's in the print media as well. It's in the AP stories from the wire. The rah-rah McCain shows up daily in our local newspaper both in the news pages and on the editorial page (when they choose to run LTTE that focus on evil Obama who can't be trusted and McCain the war hero).

It is so very, very obvious that corporate media will pull out every stop to put the Republican puppet in the White House.

We do NOT have journalists in America. We have corporate media.

6. I don't think the media is Obama biased but the viewership is
Who wants to hear about McCain? Not many people apparently. The media has been lamenting the fact they have to overhype a McCain, but all their viewers want is Obama.

8. The corporate media is so unpopular, they know it and they're running against them selves.

Of course it's just more of their Orwellian corporate media strategy to brain wash the American People.

They cover McBush with kid gloves while trashing Obama and then complain about them selves because that isn't working.

If the corporate media seriously want to survive, they desperately need an over haul of their journalistic ethics, drop the vast amount of editorial shit and just report the real news; in depth, leave the National Enquirer crap to the National Enquirer while giving the American People enough credit to distinguish what's best for themseves for a change.

14. Yep. Meanwhile, McCain's talking about the Iraq-Pakistan border and gets nothing
but pats on the back from the mainstream/right wing media.
