Nightline host's final sentence reiterates talking point Obama unfit to lead
Write the staff at Nightline at this comment page - http://abcnews.go.com/Site/page?id=3072379

What I wrote, in response to their reporter focusing the final moments of the show on Obama being, essentially, unfit to lead the military, and not being qualified to the president - the favorite acceptable talking-point that the GOP blows off about him whenever they get the chance - which is too often - - - - - - -

Hello Nightline,

The final sentence in tonight's broadcast, saying that the issue of Obama not being able/fit/ready to lead the military as Commander-in-Chief being a "topic that will continue to be a hotly contested one the rest of this campaign" is yet another attempt by the right wing corporate controlled media, swiping at Obama EVERY chance they get in saying he's not fit to lead and how that argument is one that is deemed as fact...

Barack Obama is a highly inspirational man, who draws (as a leader does) huge numbers to hear him speak, and has incredible leadership qualities and decision making skills (as is exhibited in his beating out the incredible Hillary Clinton). McCain has said that on "ALL the transcendent issues I agree with pResident Bush" - that's more than enough than I need to know that he's ill suited to be president, because Bush has been the biggest joke of a "leader" and "uniter" that we have ever seen, but yet, we don't hear you Nightline, saying the same about McCain, now do we?

Bush has not been a positive force in this country, and McCain sounds just like W, and would lead the same stubborn way!

So, NO NIGHTLINE, there's no "hotly contested debate" about Obama's suitability to be president, there's a percentage of right wing GOPers who think Bush is FABULOUS, who think this way about Obama - and oddly enough - quite a few "reporters" who seem to think that way also.

2. Done
I said that McCain, like Bush, was at the bottom of his class. McCain, like Bush, was class clown.

I said that it's time we have a President who worked hard at college and held a responsible position the way Obama did at Harvard Law Review.

4. and dammit, why can't someone run a commercial like what you just said!
it IS time we elect someone that inspires and did well, not a class clown who jokes VERY inappropriately and who was also at the bottom of his class.

nice comments, thanks for writing them!

5. Kick and email sent letting them know that it was not okay for them to repeat a
certain groups agenda when not examining the fact that the so called success of the surge was more a product of several factors combining at the right time and without those factors the troop suge would not have worked on it's own. That Barack obama showed superior judgement by not wanting us in this war in the first place. Also I would like to see more reports on the contradictions that McCain has made regarding Iraq examined.

10. I can't believe rightwingers are talking about unfair treatment
in the press when his gaffes are ignored, his fitness for command is assumed, and when he is seldom even asked what he proposes to do about anything.

McSame is getting a free ride and he is bar none the worst major presidential candidate, running easily the worst campaign in the television era at least. Yet some hoe Obama appears to running against Eisenhower and McCain's going against a random liberal black guy.

When McCain fumbles in the endzone, he gets to set up for a punt on the 40. If Obama throws an incomplete pass McCain gets the ball on his 20.

It makes me puke that some of our right honorable friends say the media is in the tank for Obama, when the truth is they are clearly helping McCain run out the clock while putting Obama under a 100 different kinds of microscopes.
I'm sure Obama could stand to give up breaking news on his tie selection for some wall to wall John McCain crazy talk coverage or a round table on his dear in a headlights routine, or angry populist conversation on why McCain votes on bills that make federal law on subjects he has never even thought about.
Maybe someone could question if he'll have time to reference prior voting record if the infamous phone rings at 3am.

14. The Repub Media games have begun
It will only get worse. I'm afraid the swift-boating of Kerry will be nothing compared to what they plan for Obama. Andria Mitchell could barely control her disgust with her Obama reporting. It seems the question of the day for the cable news is "Does the press favor Obama?" - - Now that is a joke. Obama makes the news and they barely report it.

9. I saw a similar bumpersticker on a car just the other day
It read "Gas was $1.46 the day Bush became President."

That was it. It was really striking in its simplicity to me.... and I want one!!

11. Why does being a POW make a person more fit to command?
POW's don't make decisions regarding troop deployment or lead their squadrons into action.

Didn't do squat as a POW. When he was released from prison he was assigned as a flight instructor from 1974 to 1977. In 1977 he became a Liaison officer for the Navy to the Senate until 1981.

16. Obama did good in the Terry Moran interview. Lets' see who interviews McCain.
One time I wrote about Terry Moran and DUers said he was ok. Last night he wouldn't let Obama talk about how the war was a mistake. Is that fair? He insisted that Obama talk about the surge. Obama told him that the surge benefited from the lessening of hostilities between the Sunnis and Shiites.

Many DUers know that the ethnic cleansing unleashed by bush's immoral war had come to and end by the time the surge began.
