Poss. McCain VP Choice - Sarah Palin - A Female Dan Quayle?
Edited on Tue Jul-22-08 01:03 AM by Median Democrat
I am thinking that John McCain's recent meetings with George Bush, Sr., are going to lead to a Bush, Sr. like choice for VP, Sarah Palin, a former Miss Alaska contest Miss Congeniality with modest academic credentials, but who has a very strong athletic background. Also, since her husband works for the oil industry, the Texas GOP may give its blessing.

Like Dan Quayle, she is not an academic super star.

Like Dan Quayle, she had success as a high school athlete.

Like Dan Quayle, she is very conservative, pro-gun, and very pro-life.

Like Dan Quayle, she achieved early political success.

Like Dan Quayle, she is a relative unknown nationally.

Like Dan Quayle, she is youthful and good looking.

Like Dan Quayle, she will be added to an elder Presidential ticket in order to add some youth, charisma and visual appeal.

So, I am predicting that John McCain pulls a George Bush, Sr., and picks a female version of Dan Quayle. This may not be a bad idea, since George Bush, Sr. did win his first presidential contest with Quayle as a running mate.

1. It would look so bizarrely awkward to see her and McSame standing next to one another
One a hot lady with glasses the other an old creepy man with a giant jaw. It would look like beauty and the beast with the head of the ticket being the BEAST. Not helpful for McSame to have that sharp of a contrast with the VP.

4. Though The Visual Of Him Sandwiched Between Sarah and Cindy

At a press conference would look like a typical Fox Newscast with the plethora of hot RW blondes. I swear, does Fox clone them? Susan Estrich just call them the "Ann's" after Ann Coulter.

Also, Sarah fits the way the GOP thinks. They sign up Dan Quayle because he looked like a young Robert Redford, and Sarah Palin fits that model of thinking, except it attracts young white males.

3. She's got that porn librarian look
Particularly when her hair is completely up, minus the bangs.

I won plenty of money on her betting that '06 gov race when the Intrade odds were screwed up, assuming Murkowski would be the nominee, and Knowles as the heavy favorite. But when I watched the primary debates I wasn't overly impressed. Primarily she played the victim as Murkowski and the third guy attacked her.

I will say one thing, she might have some pull, likability or whatever you want to call it. She surpassed her poll numbers dramatically in the primary and also drew away at the end after Knowles had closed the gap. Her approval ratings are among the highest I've ever seen.

7. They keep saying Obama is inexperienced an unqualified
Yet they would put this woman--who is more inexperienced than Obama, especially on foreign policy--underneath a 72 year old man?

Wait a minute, that last part came out wrong.

10. The media would go absolutely crazy. Stories about her 5 kids with unconventional names,
one born with Downs syndrome, she fishes and hunts.

11. The Great Upside - Is That It Destroys McCain's Argument About Experience
Like Dan Quayle, she is media friendly, but is not exactly a brain surgeon. Indeed, she is a former contestant for Miss Alaska, so the media might give her an initial free pass like Dan Quayle.

The great thing is that it does totally undercut McCain's argument that experience is key if he picks her as a Vice-President. How can McCain attack Obama's experience when he is essentially vouching that Palin is ready to be President in the event that something happens to him? If I were Obama, I would take a McCain pick of Palin as a virtual endorsement that Obama is more than experienced enough to be commander in chief.

13. Then she can't give McCain the one thing he needs!
If she's not a brain surgeon, she obviously can't give him a brain transplant!

12. I doubt it she just gave birth to a severly disable son with Down syndrome
On April 18, 2008, Palin gave birth to her second son, Trig Paxson Van Palin, who has Down syndrome.<8> The Palin family lives in Wasilla, about 40 miles north of Anchorage.<6>

If something were to happen to McCain, how could she possibly take over with no military experience (according to McSame)?

Her career dissipation may make Gov. Spitzer's look like a slow motion event.
