Why Would Any of Them Want to be McCain's VP??
Think about it. All the "mentioned" names (including Mitt)are ambitious, political animals. They are sniffing 2012 and beyond. Why would they want to get strapped to a dead horse which would end their hope of ever getting their party's nomination in the future? You don't buy a ticket to sail on the Titanic if you plan on getting across the ocean alive!!!

2. Maybe because they are thinking
that "anything could happen" before the convention. They just won't say it out loud.

the Olympics around", the guy who already knows how to campaign and raise money and debate. They have no reason to go with a riskier choice, at this point, because McCain is a terrible candidate--you don't want someone untested and unfamiliar on the national stage making gaffes on top of McCain's gaffes. That's my analysis.

4. weinerdog--but why would Mitt want it?
Mitt still sees himself as President. Going down on McCain's sinking ship ends it permanently for him. I'm surprised McCain could get his gardner to run with him----oh, wait, the guy probably is an illegal that McCain pays $1.00 an hour for services.........

6. Because if by some tragedy McCain wins, Romney may be President--
remember, we're talking a 72-year-old coot here, who's already showing signs of mental slippage. And Romney will be young enough to succeed him if McCain makes it all the way through a term.

5. Because...
If the fix is in and McSame is appointed to the office, he will not last more than 2 years. The job will kill him, look what it does to a healthy man.
Riding that ship through would be very appealing to the sleaze bags on the right because they will take any power they can now matter how they got it.

9. Definitely, even an unsuccessful VP run gives you credentials in the party
I think that factor helped Bob Dole, even though he won the Presidential nomination 20 years after being Ford's running mate.

Does anyone think that Joe Lieberman would have even considered his 2004 run for the Presidency if Gore hadn't picked him in 2000? Fortunately, of course, he crashed and burned, but he probably did better than he would have without the prior national exposure.
