Man, the jealousy is getting out of control! What, has it been like, three days of Obama actually getting semi-positive coverage?

McCain camp targets media "love" for Obama

The McCain campaign is picking up where Saturday Night Live left off: Guilting reporters for purportedly being soft on Barack Obama.

They've begun a contest on their website under the headline: "The Media is in LOVE with Barack"

"Pick the best song for their devotion," they ask readers, offering the same compilation video of TV news clips gushing over the Democratic candidate set to two different love ballads.

Asked why they are engaging in media-bashing, McCain spokesman Brian Rogers replied: "Love for 'The One' is in the air."

McCain aides have begun to poke fun at Obama's rock-star image by referring to him with the faux lofty phrase.

NBC and MSNBC come in for special criticism in the video, with Chris Matthews taking the brunt of the attack.

"He’s sorta a gift from the world to us in so many ways," Matthews is shown saying -- three times in a row.

While McCain aides have grumbled for months about treatment of Obama, this is the most outward effort to tweak the media and perhaps evoke a little guilt.

3. Worked for Hillary--when you can't get press attention for the impressive things
you do as a candidate, you complain that the other guy is getting a free ride.

They're the ones who made a big deal about going to Iraq. Be careful what you ask for.

6. This strategy worked wonderfully for Hillary. When she attacked them for covering her gaffes,
they did nothing but Wright Ayers Flagpin for a week.

McCain raises money off Obama’s trip
By MIKE ALLEN | 7/22/08 11:42 AM EST Text Size:

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), resigned to what an adviser memorably called “table scraps” of news coverage this week, has blasted a fundraising e-mail to supporters arguing that the press has “a bizarre fascination with Barack Obama.”

The e-mail has the blunt subject line, “The media is in love.”

Grammatically, it would be “the media ARE in love,” but his point is clear that news organizations are overdoing it in their expensive, extensive coverage of the weeklong swing by Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) through the Middle East and Europe.

The message to the “McCain Team,” from the “McCain Campaign,” reads:

“It's pretty obvious that the media has a bizarre fascination with Barack Obama. Some may even say it's a love affair. We want you to be the judge. We've compiled two videos of the more outrageous moments of this not so secret love affair. Follow this link to watch the two videos and vote on which one you think is better. Your vote will determine which video we put on the air. The media is in love with Barack Obama. If it wasn't so serious, it would be funny.”

The link leads to a page with a Valentine’s color scheme, emblazoned with red hearts and saying, “The media is in LOVE with Barack,” and invites visitors to vote for clips of two montages from cable news shows, accompanied by “Love Is in the Air.”

The e-mail has buttons for “Join Our Team,” “Send to Friends” and “Contribute.”
