Obama continues to outraise McCain in West Virginia by over 2 to 1

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- In their race for the White House, Democrat Barack Obama is widening his fundraising edge over Republican John McCain among West Virginians.

McCain's in-state total reached six figures last month, to nearly $121,000. Mountain State residents contributed more than $32,300 to his campaign in June.

That's nearly double May's figure. But it's also about half the $58,800 that Obama attracted from West Virginians in June.

The latest Federal Election Commission filings show Obama has raised about $266,300 in the state so far, more that twice what McCain has.

Obama also had four times the individual contributors in June. McCain's money that month came from just 75 West Virginians.
