1. He does very well there
Just one thing I think the Obama campaign should insist on is that he should be photographed from eye level. They shoot Katie at eye level and they have slight down angle on him. This is subtle but a down angle makes people look smaller and vulnerable (and less Presidential). The Kerry campaign did a terrible job of controlling the way Kerry was photographed and Obama's camapign has generally done better so far.

And Couric is an annoying interviewer as always. The feigned concern and the 'beat your wife' questions...ugh.

4. How KKKatie interviews Democrats
Edited on Tue Jul-22-08 06:14 PM by IanDB1
What she does is ask about four or five "loaded questions" and only give President Kerry time to answer one or two of them-- leaving the rest of the accusations questions just hanging there.

5. Katie is a browbeater.
How many ways can she ask the same question about the surge?

6. Obama was very carefully restating his position on the surge, that the TROOPS are the ones who have
done such a fine job stabilizing things in Iraq, along with the surprise assistance by the Sunni factions and al Sadr backing down. Obama simply would not be put in the "box" of acknowledging the McClaim that Obama was wrong being against the surge. Obama was right about the surge... the real problem was that bushco refused to put in enough troops in the first place to get the job done right, and the surge was only "successful" as a result of other lucky events.

7. yeah, he handled it well
but his third response should've been his first one, because he knew what she was trying to do and he needed to state that the "surge" wasn't the only option on the table - just the most wasteful and risky one.
