I Have A Feeling McSame Made A Huge Mistake Attacking The M$M...
Accusing them of favoring Obama in their coverage and putting out that web video may be like poking a hornet's nest with a short stick. He's likely to regret it...

1. McCain has made many mistakes this week
Gergen also said that on CNN tonight.

You would never want to pick a fight with MSM. The media will be more than glad to cover McCain's gaffes if he keeps attacking them.

3. It worked for Hillary because the MSM was kind of hammering her more,
so they felt a little ashamed of their behavior. But the media has been giving McCain such a free ride that I'm sure they felt a little angry when McCain accused them of being "biased in favor of Obama."

"BIASED!? We've been working our fucking asses off for you! You ungrateful old coot! You want bias!? We'll show you fucking bias gramps!!!"

5. it only lasted for a few weeks witih Hillary
they were nice but then turned on her again

working the refs works that way: they try to show they are not unfair for a couple of calls then when they they think its safe, they bury you.

8. Yeah, I noticed how they "turned on her" when they
were pounding the shit outta Obama on Wright and all the other shit they came up with that I really don't want to revisit their crap now.

7. Maybe we can finally get an admission, at least tacit,
Edited on Wed Jul-23-08 12:39 AM by ashling
that the M$M has built up McCain's faux maverick status through their long standing crush on him. Methinks he doth protest too much ... he's just jealous, after all, he has been their steady date until now. Don't you just get the feeling that we have become a (Republican) nation of whiners?
:sarcasm:

9. He was stupid as hell to make that video.
Is he REALLY trying to embarass the very people who propped him up during HIS OWN primary? They are the reason he got past Romney, who th establishment was behind. They were "his base". Now, he put out a video blasting them. He WILL regret it and his own supporters even say it was a dumb thing to do. They and everybody in the world knows how much the MSM has bended over backwards for McInsane. He would not have even made it THIS FAR if it had not been for their glowing coverage of him. He had a lot of damn nerve pulling this crap. The MSM thinks its all about them and they will teach him a lesson about this for the rest of the week.

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. McCain must have delusions of invincibility.

It's a losing strategy to blame the press for your message failure. HRC's campaign proves that.

10. Clinton tried working the refs and it backfired. McCain is mimicking bad strategy.
McCain’s Hillary Problem: He’s running her same campaign. And she lost:

11. The McCain Stream Media loves McCain. The Big Lie is that
the MSM is "in love with Obama" -- It is McCain they are protecting and loving. Hell the "media" is the one pushing this story about the "media."

12. I have yet to see this ploy backfire.
The MSM loves to report about how "liberal" and "biased" they are. The meme then gives them cover to push a RW corporate agenda: "If even the liberal media thinks Bush is wonderful, then it must be true", etc.

13. Usually you would be right, but they have been giving McCain such a free pass lately
that I don't think they will be able to report on how pro-Obama they are.

15. Never underestimate their audacity,
their ability to make the most absurd statements with an air of stern gravitas. When such statements are repeated over and over in a serious voice by serious-sounding media-types, eventually they stop being absurd and become The Truth. Just watch.

22. You are spot on correct ...
Compared to BO's campaign, McCain's campaign is a disaster ... But, him attacking the press is NOT a mistake ... As you accurately noted, that is what Rs do to give the MSM all the permission they need to give the R a pass and tear into the D ...

The Hill comparison is not relavent ... First, she is a D, not an R ... But, beyond that, she did NOT LOSE because of the attack the press meme ... She would have beaten any other candidate ... BO WON ...

Attacking the press is a hold the fort when you are in trouble kind of move ... It is NOT the problem, it works as often as not, again, especially for an R ...

14. The decisions of whom the MSM will
support or go after will be made in the Executive Suites or Board Rooms of the corporate owners. The agendas are established there, probably in conjunction/consultation with folks like Rove, Norquist, Cheney, etc. The networks and news feeds (i.e. AP) just execute the strategy that comes from the top.

18. How Many Holes Can The Corporate Media Cover Over?
Remember, the corporate media is his base...and none of us should forget that. We're dealing with petty villagers here who see this election about them first and the candidates and the issues a far, distant second. Suck up to them and you're golden, slight them in the least and you're called an "elitist" and ridiculed. Again, it's all about them...especially now when there's really not much happening in this election.

The problem that's beginning to develop is that Gramps has made too many gaffes that it's hard for the villagers to keep up with it...no sooner do they do damage control on one mess, Gramps brain farts again. And now it's becoming apparent to those who are paying attention that the media has become a problem unto themselves...stuck in a dilemma they still haven't been able to get a hand on...and that is whatif Obama wins.

It's been a rough year for the village...none of their narratives have really played out well...and some are actually backfiring. Instead of being a Paton, Gramps looks more like Ned Flanders. These people live in a life of luxuary and change is something they carry in their pockets for the riff-raff outside their Park Avenue apartments...thus they'll continue to defend the status quo and as long as Gramps is the candidate of "more of the same", they will ignore his messes and always question Obama.

19. Maybe the media will retaliate
and begin showing all of the gaffes that McCain makes. He confuses so many important things such as the location of bordering nations and terrorist organizations, etc. and they never show that in the MSM. I see his mistakes shown on the internet, but not on the nightly news. How about the incident when Joe Lieberman had to whisper the correct answer in his ear regarding Iraq?
