How I wish Obama would answer the 'do you support the surge?' queston... |
|
'If you define it as the increase number of troops doing a fabulous job of holding back the enemy then YES'
'If you define it as how Bush and McCain initially defined it then NO'
And, then he can go on and explain how Bush and McCain's "surge" failed.

2. The M$M is putting Obama in a trick box due to the way *they* are defining the Surge |
|
You make a good point. Obama needs to redefine the Surge, the conditions under which one would consider it a success. Not doing so is hurting Obama because McSame and the Repukes are great at the art of repetition. The M$M is following suit. Even the pundits on Keith's show have bought into the notion that the Surge has been a success and that McSame is somehow responsible.
Obama needs to change the narrative. Not sure why his campaign isn't doing so and taking advantage of the goodwill he's receiving there from the leaders.

3. He's fine. Nobody gives a rat's patootie about a military tactic, except the neocons and McSurge. |

4. " it has not done what it was intended to do and it never will. |

"The Iraqi leadership is spinning their wheels and we are paying the price is blood an treasure. We need to move the ball."
That is how to answer the question in a single soundbite.

5. Yeah, but the MSM will continue to ask 'why doesn't Obama support the surge'. |
|
I would hope that an answer like mine would at least shut them up about this topic.

6. Obama is playing them GOOD. |

He refuses to talk about the Surge because he knows it drives the Repbus. crazy and in the end, admitting they may have made a proper decision in this one instance gains him no political advantage. And make no mistake, it (the surge) is ALL about politics at this point.
They want to fool him into thinking an admission of the surge's success would show his maturity as a Commander in Cheif and demonstrate his strength of character by recognizing when he made a mistake.
No, you know what they would realy do? Throw it back in his face.
"See. He even admits its worked now. I voted for it, he voted against it. You want this guy as your CChief?"
Obama knows there is nothing to gain by ceding this (increasingly less relevant) issue to McCain. He's gonna get beat up on Foreign Policy Creds. by the repubs either way.
He's moving on to larger issues and leaving them in dust, crying like babies for the "credit" they deserve.
Obama cannot be punked and they are learning it.
