McCain wonders why the media follows Obama so much but he is just as guilty for it

All he does is attack Obama everyday. Yesterday it was "Obama would rather lose a war to win an election". In the editorial to the NYT it was basically an attack ad against Obama and offered little substance. In every town hall he does he can't get through a sentence without attacking Obama. McCain has an obsession with him.


I think even McCain has Obama fever. You would think that in the beginnings of a Presidential campaign you would try to show what you have to offer and talk about those things every day, but not McCain. You would think they would try to set an agenda and talk about what they plan to do as President, but not McCain. No, instead of showing what he has to offer, he attacks the opposing candidate...nonstop.



Maybe if McCain offered substance instead of constant attacks he would get more attention from the media. His non stop attacking hasn't even landed him ahead in the tracking polls which has been dominated by Obama this whole summer.

Has there ever been a campaign that managed the media so poorly? McCain's campaign is doing worse than John Kerry in this regard.

5. Of course the media is impressed with Obama. He is an impressive person

The media love to predict who is going to win elections, who is going to get campaign funds, who is going to succeed and who is going to fail, and Obama has continued to confound their expectations. You've heard the old media adage: Man bites dog is always a bigger story than Dog bites man. McCain's candidacy is a case of man bites dog. It's predictable, it's expected. It's "Look at all my years of experience, and we are fighting a war on terror so you need me to protect you."

With Obama on the other hand, everything he has done has defied conventional political wisdom.

Rather than go with the tried and trusted method of relying on big money donors, he has built a fundraising base built on small donors.

Rather than court lobbyists to win, he has snubbed them.

Rather than highlight his experience, he has highlighted his ideas. Correctly figuring that America is tired of people like Rumsfeld and Cheney, people with good experience and bad ideas.

Rather than trying to win the democratic nomination on Super Tuesday, he prepared for a long campaign. This one shocked the media because the nominee is almost always decided by Super Tuesday.

Rather than go for the 25+1 strategy of targeting states based on what Kerry won in 2004 Obama has recognized that this is a new election, and has brought states into play that we would have never dreamed of taking four years ago.

Even his overseas tour attracts more attention because Obama is promising a different foreign policy than what we have had before, and McCain is just promising more of the same. Stay in Iraq, threaten Iran, ignore our allies, you are either with us or against us.

"Man bites dog", is always a bigger news story than "Dog bites man" if McCain wants media attention, he needs to quit being so predictable.

And BTW. Blaming the media when you are losing is a pretty wussy move. McCain needs to quit whining.
