Who will hold CBS accountable?
They literally acted as a propaganda machine for McSame yesterday. Obviously, they're not feeling sufficient heat, because altough they were caught red handed, they have not apologized.

Seriously, how can that network be held acoountable? I want them to at least have to acknowledge what they did. This, to me, was the most blatant example of the corporate media shilling for a repug that I have seen. And we all know how much competition for that title there has been.

We can't just let it slide.

4. Read The Fine Print...
"...CBS Broadcasting Inc. (including corporate sponsors) is no longer responsible for the content (or accuracy therein) of it's "News Division"..."

5. We need to email MSNBC about this. They're not afraid of
going after other networks. At least KO, RM and DA aren't.

You're right, we can't let this one slide.

8. Last night was the first time I could actually watch the entire Abrams
show. I loved it when he said McCain should be careful what he wishes for. :)

7. This is what KO did
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDIAsS9VXiM

I found the dual screen quite damning. It is a total exposure of the fakery involved in TV News. You have to ask, "If CBS is doing it, who else is doing it?" My tinfoil hat wearing brain immediately answers, "FOX."

9. Wow. See what happens when I miss half of KO? That was way
cool. I hope the topic doesn't die just because he covered it last night. This needs to go on NBC news with Brian Williams. Because CBS flat out lied in their editing. There is no other way to put it. The whole damn thing is a lie and CBS cannot be trusted with any news anymore. It is just shameful.

Thank you for the youtube link.

11. You are welcome!
I would love to say that one of the other networks will come down on CBS, but I don't think it will happen. I'm sure they each have dirt on the others - so they keep their traps shut.

10. they all suck
as someone once said about news and interest: "if it bleeds it leads".

I would add a correllary: "if it ain't bleeding then run it through", which seems to be the MO for journalistic integrity on virtually any and all of the networks these days.

Note how many times you hear the word "concerned" or "controversial" in a broadcast addressing political leadership.

12. Please look to the behavior of CBS during the Mapes/Rather situation, circa Fall/spring '04
MAry Mapes was the first US reporter to acknowledge the problems going on at a prison inside Iraq. That prison was Abu Gharib.

Her work at Sixty Minutes II also included a full accounting of the treachery known as Gitmo.

In any other period of history, she would have been hailed as the next Cronkite.

Instead, during her fall 2004 production of a story featuring the real truth behind George W being AWOL in his stint for the Texas Air Guard, she was fired.

And her boss, Dan Rather, he was put on notice and told that he needed to consider retiring soon. So he retired early 2005.

Oh and the Powers that Be held a Kangaroo court, to look into the production values of her story on the George W Bush AWOL story. She was found guilty of falling short of journalistic standards. Every single point brought against her could have easily been refuted. And of course, Dick Thornburgh, who presided over the investigation into Mapes'
integrity, was hardly impartial -- he has been a RW mouthpiece for his entire career.

The only silver lining was that in Spring 2005, Mapes and Rather received the coveted Peabody award for the Abu Gharib articles. But that award could not restore them to their jobs at CBS.

Edited on Wed Jul-23-08 08:54 PM by Rocky2007
REALLY!! How do they think they have the option to just up and change an answer to a question???

That's not what the news media should do. They are suppose to report the news -- not manufacture the news.

I mean really. Somebodies head was buried up someones ass!!

SHAME ON CBS FOR EVEN THINKING ABOUT DOING SOMETHING SO STUPID ! !

:wtf: :spank: :spank: :nuke:

Edit -- Oh, I just hit 100 posts :bounce:
