Halperin: There is an organized effort underway to get some big name Republicans to endorse Obama
Edited on Wed Jul-23-08 12:21 PM by TeamJordan23
Possibly before the Convention and maybe even have someone speak at the Convention.

Details are still developing, but Halperin has pictures of Hagel, Colin Powell, and Scowcroft on his blog.

1. Scowcroft, eh? Daddy's national security man?
That would piss off Baby Bush, I think.

I don't want Powell's endorsement. He's part of the reason we're in this Iraq mess.

3. I will take Powell's endorsement in a heartbeat--just because he's
fallen out of favor on DU doesn't mean he's not still very popular to the average low-info moran American voter.

10. exactly
I can't stand him, but Murcans seem to think he's the bee's knees.

or, they might think an endorsement from Powell would be race-based, as they do with every other African American. I can't tell any longer.

16. He was against the Iraq war from day one - he just didn't make a lot of noise about it

He was however very clear (as was Baker) that they disagreed with it.

2. Powell is the Kiss of Death to Obama
He could not even consider the War Criminal Powell to open his filthy maw at the convention; if he was stupid enough to do this, that would be the end of his career

5. No he's not. I agree, he shouldn't speak at the convention, but I'll
welcome his vote.

8. disagree
I think Powell still carries an awful lot of weight with people on the right and in the middle.
If he comes clean on the rush to war in Iraq I think he'd be an asset to Obama.

13. Please ...
what has the right done to ANY other person who has come out against Bushco ... They evicerate him ...

Powell shut his mind/mouth and got behind these idiots and was a good little poster boy for Hannity et all to blab about ...

The MOMENT he stands behind BO he will be a douchebag like everyone else who has broke ranks ...

GIVEN that Powell sold out to the pukes to begin with, you can live without him ...

4. Hagel has basically already endorsed Obama. I'm waiting on Powell
because if he endorses Obama, it's over for McSame. Powell is a beloved figure among Independents. What better way to redeem himself after his complicit participation in this administration's crimes...
