I don't want Romney, but he's the only guy who will take the VP spot. I bet McCain has asked a few and they've all turned him down, but Romney, he realizes accepting, even in loss, positions him for 2012.
Romney will be McCain's VP and I think it will help McCain in some rustbelt states and also on the economy, but it may hurt in the south. It probably won't be a game changer, but it's a far better pick than anything else out there.

with the cameras and if signing on to a losing campaign will give him that he will grin and bear it. He really really really wants to be president. He'll consider this an audition for 2012.

Romney is accepted by many on the right and I think they know McCain probably won't make it through a first term, so get a VP candidate who fits their mold and have him take over the presidency when/if McCain dies.
That's the job for Romney. He really, really, really wants to be president and he sees this as a good avenue. Of course, it requires winning and that will be tough, but even in loss he becomes the de facto 2012 GOP nominee.

|
Edited on Wed Jul-23-08 05:15 PM by Drunken Irishman
It's only bad when you're a LIBERAL elitist.
Romney will play well in Michigan and Ohio, but Michigan especially. He'll help balance McCain out on the economy and many people find him pleasing on the eyes.
Of course, the Democrats thought all the same things about Edwards in 2004 and it didn't quite work out...

big in those states.
You can use the same ads Kennedy used against him to crush him. Thats why most wanted Romney to be their nominee

Also, even Republicans hate him here in Wisconsin. They don't trust him. Romney is well known, but not liked.

He would tie his dog to the roof of his car to get the nod (oh wait. . .)
Anyway, most important, he will reliably do the neocons' bidding.

He could let it grow out long and have a giant combover onto McCain's scalp. They'd have to stand side-by-side with one head next to the other and move in complete lockstep for it to work, though.
