So when are we going to see the first debate?
I'm really looking forward to the debates-as long as they aren't hosted by Charles Gibson and George Stephanopolis. Any word on when we might see the first one?

1. I can't wait!
Once he is shown in contrast to McSame, Obama will pull away in the polls.

4. I think it's 50-50 whether or not there will be debates
On the one hand, McCain next to Obama will look like Gravel did.

On the other hand, McCain needs Obama to generate a crowd.

It's a Catch 22 for the whiny baby.

12. I'd like to see somebody who doesn't like either of them do it.
Get somebody like Amy Goodman. I think she'd be down the middle, fair, and blunt.

Moyers would be excellent of course, but I think he'd be polite. I don't think Amy would put up with any crap.

16. I would doubt that Moyers is a fan of either one
he sounds like he's completely fed up with both parties these days, though he's obviously more disgusted with the GOP.

17. I agree, but like I said, he'd still be polite.

I'll make you a deal. Amy gets a debate, Moyers gets a debate. :-)

9. There's some kind of event on August 16
It won't be a debate per se. They'll each get an hour. I think it will be a town-hall-type setting.

21. I don't think any rational person would conclude you were worried about it!
Edited on Sat Jul-26-08 05:14 AM by TexasObserver
I'm always amused by posters who read things into an OP or post that simply are not there, and then post accordingly. How could any rational person read your OP and conclude you are worried about it? I suspect it simply comes down to their not understanding what the word "worried" means, or not understanding words such as "concern" and "interest."

As for McCain, yes, he will be the nominee in November. Some of the off-the-wall beliefs a few outliers have are truly bizarre.

14. September 26 in Oxford, Mississippi.
Here's the list: debates

Obama and McCain are also appearing at Rick Warren's church next month, but they won't interact then. I doubt there will be any debates before September 26 or any that are not part of the official schedule.

18. This is going to be so awesome..
It'll be Kennedy versus Nixon for the high-definition age.

Spry, young, fit, toned, sharp Obama versus pale, jowelsy, liverspotted, wrinkly, doddering McCain..

it'll be a lovely contrast. And comedy gold.

Just like every single one of the Kerry/Bewsh debates (and I'll have words with ANYone that says Bewsh even won ONE of those).

An articulate, reasoned, collected, well-solutioned and prepared speaker versus an old man who's way the hell over his head and offering nothing but the same old failed GOP brand of corporate/wealthy fluffing and middle/working/poor class risk-and-loss assumption disguised as "relief".

Lots of hand-wringing from Republicans.

Lots of confidence from the Democratic side.

Lots of racist heads exploding.

And lots of oversmug, suppressed smiles and smirks from the corporate fixers of the last two elections.

Debates don't matter. Obama has these in the bag no matter what they'll throw at him.

Elections are what matter. We . . . ALL of us, need to be vigilant and not let them steal this one.

If they get away with it, America will be destroyed. Not just shitted up like it is now, but destroyed.

This transfer of wealth CANNOT continue. It's about what is best for America. McClown is what's best for wealthy people like him.
