Pics from Obama trip *PIC HEAVY*
Edited on Fri Jul-25-08 06:03 AM by MissHoneychurch
as you know, 48percenter and I were in Berlin to see Obama and hear him speak.

So here he is at the back entrance from the Hotel Adlon. We got lucky that we were there shortly before he showed up.

We got to the Siegessäule rather early and got a good spot - or so we thought. We had to wait 3 hours till he showed up.

Our view, before he came

holding the camera in the crowd

Security

A nice little detail

Then he finally spoke .... and the stupid telepromter was in front of him ... and the sun behind him. Yes, we were close, but at a bad spot. So sorry, not so many good pics as I had hoped for,

Of course there were still a bunch of bigheads in front of us.

48percenter also took pics, she will post them shortly too I am sure.

It was an amazing day. We were lucky to see him twice. The speech was fantastic. The vibe in the crowd was so positive.

8. Oh believe me
48percenter and I felt VERY fortunate to be there. Some of my German friends think I am nutz to go only to Berlin to see and hear Obama (it is an 4 hour train ride) but hey, I am more than happy that I went.

The contrast between Obama's easy manners and the bushes constant stuttering insults is so painfully glaring.

Thanks for posting your pics.

13. He was annoying
and strange looking. I didn't take a pic of it, but he had his beard half shaven. One half he had a beard, the other half he was clean shaven ... really really strange ... as nutty as his candidate

Thanks. My kitty is living in the TN with another DUer. He is over a year by now. Still cute as hell :)

19. Yes they are
I pop onto the local talk show station (i guess I like punishment) and Rusty Humphries was comparing the event to the Nuremberg Rally and said Leni Riefenstahl would have been proud. Had I not been driving, it would have been a perfect time for a face palm. Not driving now, so:

he is such a great speaker!!! No way * would be able to pull off such a thing. As far as I remember, he never did.

I am waiting for the TV discussions between Obama and McSame .... that alone will be a treat to watch ... that is, when Obama is speaking McSame into the ground.

It was a true experience yesterday. I am still in awe about it ....

34. You know, I actually love the imperfect pics...
It makes it obvious that this is not the work of a news agency with a privileged view of the event. The heads, lighting and yes, even teleprompters might not make for the best pictures, but somehow they make the pics warmer.

I'm very impressed with the pics you got. I've seen Barack speak three times now and my pictures were, uh, not so nice. And I can't blame the setting sun or teleprompters, I'm just a crap photographer, which you are clearly not! ;)

To have the crowd face west at sunset, but what can you do? I think you got some awesome shots in spite of the lighting, certainly those shots outside the hotel are wonderful. And the photos prove you were really really there! I know if I had been there I would have to pinch myself to believe I was really so lucky to be at that historic moment.

My favorite shot? The last one. Not the best shot of Obama, but I really like the framing!

it is amazing. Some people when they read a text you can tell they read it from paper/telepromter. Obama, I am sure he had it memorized nevertheless and only used it as a little reminder. He kept looking at the crowd, at the cameras.
