OMG, Stein's comparison of the Obama Crowd to a hitler gathering - not the first time done

http://delawarecurmudgeon.blogspot.com/2008/05/is-size-of-crowd-measure-of-man.html

I was searching on the size of the Live 8 concerts in Berlin, which is something comparable in size to what Obama had yesterday. And I found this website.

So I guess anyone who draws a crowd of more than 50 people for a speech is now the reincarnation of Hitler. This website post was from back in MAY and the comparision was made. To me this is no different than what they did to play down Kerry's military career vs. the Bush's AWOL military service. Take something extremely positive (IE Kerry being a decorated war hero, Obama having a very large, peaceful turnout to hear him speak) and make something really negative out of it (ie Swiftboating or comparing large crowds to Hitler rallies).

I have a feeling that this website and what Ben Stein has said will NOT be the last time we'll hear comments about the crowd sizes for Obama gatherings. The right wing knows the only way that many people will show up for a McCain rally is to count in all the protesters. So they have to find a way to make it extremely negative to help turn this bad situation (for the repukes) into their favor).

So even though I think it's amazing so many people want to hear Obama speak - the right wing is gonna use the Hitler crowds as an example that this is suppose to be some sort of bad thing.

2. At one time I posted here that Tucker Carlson was the pub I'd most like to punch out
I no longer feel that way after hearing the loathsome Ben Stein make some similar pronouncement on the teevee a few days ago.

3. Nah...
A shitload of the griefer brigades here and “elsewhere” have trotted that Godwin-dulled saw out whenever the man draws a crowd of more than forty people.

They're all cut from the same cloth. Shit-stained polyester. :(

5. The Reality You Ought to Face
There is a contingent Obama supporters, particularly online, who are so invested in this election that they will shout down and shut down any person who gets up in the public square and says or writes something they feel damages his chances of winning the presidency, and, I suspect, they'll still be around after he does to clamp down on any talk that reflects negatively on that presidency.

Several DUers have had some rough encounters with this group and some good people have been tombstoned as a result.

Now. Take that crowd and combine them with the genuine cultural swell surrounding the candidacy, and understand that some people will genuinely see it as something chilling — misguidedly or otherwise. The GOP is going to play them. How you gonna deal with it?

8. I would think there is a contingent of any candidate's supporters who are like that.

6. Ben Stein *hearts* Nazi comparisons. He did that in his anti-evolution movie too.
He said Darwinism lead to Nazism. He tours old holocaust sites while sadly talking about Darwinists.

7. And when U2 or the Rolling Stones
play at the Olympic Stadium in Munich, that too is a fascist rally.
How could it be otherwise?
It's alot of people in one place in Germany.
There's no other possible explanation.
