Obama phones wounded soldiers
Posted: Friday, July 25, 2008 12:16 PM by Mark Murray
Filed Under: 2008, Obama

From NBC's Jim Miklaszewski
Obama made phone calls to wounded soldiers at Landstuhl Germany this morning, in lieu of a personal visit to the forces that was canceled by the Obama campaign.

Obama was expected to speak to a number of soldiers individually.

4. It wasn't cancelled by the Obama campaign
It was cancelled by the McCain campaign...

Jim Miklaszewski needs to correct that.

6. How many soldiers were wounded by Obama's elitist phones?
OK, I'm kidding.

Seriously, it was brilliant to do something like this because he was about to be set up by the media, again.

Had he gone in he'd have been accused of exploiting a photo-op.

If he didn't go he'd be accused of not caring. Another lose-lose set up, IMO.

The media is already buzzing about whether or not the pentagon directed him not to go, etc.

So, it's perfect that he managed to reach out to some of the wounded without a single photo being snapped.

Thanks for sharing the news!
