That was a very impressive Press Conference that Obama gave with PM Sarkozy in Paris. McCain would have fell flat on his face if he was there. However, we shouldn't underestimate the stupidity of American voters.

1. I wish it didn't come down to that. |

But it seems like everywhere I turn, I see people who probably still believe in the Bush cowboy philosophy.

American nationalistic sentiment will rear its ugly head.
There are far too many Americans out there who believe we don't need any 'friends' on the world stage; that we can do whatever we like, go it alone and not have to get input from anyone else. Our way or the highway and screw the French while we're at it.
People like Pat Buchannan who are pretty much isolationists in ideology are crapping in their pants at the thought of a president who would think on such a global scale.

3. There was a bit at the end where an American reporter asked Sarkozy if this was an endorsement |
|
Obama says that Sarkozy had better be careful with that second question. He knows that having that "sissy beaujolais sipping Frenchie" endorse him would kill off those NASCAR dads. All those people who scoffed when they learned that John Kerry spoke French would come crawling back out.
