This is what I told a friend yesterday when they asked me why I support Obama:
I had the pleasure of hearing JFK's speeches live when they happened. As wonderful as they were at the time, I believe they are a footnote compared to what Obama delivered thus far in his short political career and has yet to deliver. This is a man who is a teacher as well as an inspirer. This is a man who has a clear grasp of history and a firm grip on the real issues of the global society we live in today. This is a guy who is not afraid to challenge us at a time we need to be both inspired and challenged. After seeing probably a dozen of his bigger speeches, I am just blown away at the ease by which this man sets the tone of the conversation, pinpoints the root of the issue with laser-like precision, and sets us straight.
I have rock solid Republican friends who have told me that Obama's speech in Berlin yesterday brought them to tears. This man is a national treasure and if we don't manage to elect him in November, we will have truly missed the boat at a time the boat, our collective boat, is taking on water. He's not just what we need right now as a leader .......he's an absolute necessity.
In human history, very few times and very few people rise up from nowhere to represent "we the people" and make a difference for the betterment of the common man. In a world hungry for a CHANGE, Obama defies all odds, discrediting the corrupt career professional politicians & the profiteers of the military industrial complex, while proving to the ordinary man that there's a better alternatives to fear, war, death and destruction.
Look at that international audience he spoke to yesterday.... look at their faces, their eyes. Better yet, look at how they respond to him .... they get him! They understand what Obama represents not just for our little country, but to the world.
It wasn't long ago Germans were burning the US flag in Europe and every time Bush visited, there have been massive angry demonstrations, effigies burning in the streets, and Europeans depicting our country as the aggressive monsters from the West led by a ruthless Napoleon.
Yesterday was amazing. I looked around and saw people, Germans, waiving our flag proudly and totally moved and inspired by the hope that Obama brought to them. After listening to him, given his rare quality of charisma, character, and inspiring oration, is there really any wonder the man is being received as a new Messiah, everywhere in the world?
Yesterday, the world was watching us to see if we had someone that will put us back at the top to be the true world leader who sets the tone for others to follow..... Guess what?
OBAMA DELIVERED ....
Yesterday was Obama's "HOME RUN" on the world stage.
