Jack Reed's Sherman statement - No VP for him.
Jack Reed's Sherman statement

Posted: Friday, July 25, 2008 6:13 PM by Mark Murray
Filed Under: Democrats, 2008, Obama

From NBC/NJ's Mike Memoli
"I am interested in serving in the United States Senate and that interest trumps any consideration of serving as a vice president," Rhode Island Democrat Reed said in an interview with the Providence Journal this afternoon.

Reed was asked: "If you were offered this position you would decline, is that correct?"

"Yeah," he answered, "but I frankly I don't expect to be offered the position."

10. I have a feeling we have been waaaaay off base with all the guesses.
it'll be a big surprise.
and it will be a perfect pick.

That's the way Obama works.

4. It's down to Bayh, Biden, and Kaine.
...That's my prediction anyway.

9. Bayh--Iraqi Liberation guy. Oh boy, will the GOPers have a field day with that.
Biden and Kaine, I guess. I'm frightened that Obama's choices have dwindled so greatly.

18. They haven't.
His choices among media-annointed possibilities have dwindled.

14. I think he's a dark horse. He's an unknown to the country, but his story is a good one.
There has been zero talk about him by the MSM. Something tells me Obama will surprise us, but who knows.

17. Schweitzer or Sibelius both seem like possibilities to me
But Whisp (post #10) may be right--a big surprise that turns out to be perfect. VP picks are frequently surprises whenever they're not one of the losing presidential candidates.

Biden would be a good choice but I think he'd rather continue (and be more valuable) as chair of Foreign Relations Committee.

15. Wexler would interesting. Could he tip FL? I'm wondering about Rendell.
Holding PA and MI and getting OH might be the play. It's defensive and old school, but I think it's a strategy that would work.

19. My guess is Obama has already picked his VP, and Reed knows who it is.
I'm guessing Kaine, Richardson or Sebelius.

But I'd really, really like Feingold.
