Guess she and her husband, Alan Greenspan, want to keep their tax cuts.

I was skeptical. No more. She needs to sign that Faux News contract she seems to want so very much.

2. They have to talk about something, even if they have to make it all up.
Nobody believes that McCain has even a ghost of a chance.

3. She said Obama's press conference with Sarkozy was an insult to McCain and to Bush
She said that neither Merkel nor Brown decided to give joint press conferences with Obama but that Sarkozy's press conference side-by-side with Obama treated him like he was already a head of state and was an insult.

5. Exactly. It was jaw dropping. I was incredulous.
So she now sees her role as the journalistic defender of Bush/McCain.

I have never seen anything like it, and it was very brief.

You saw what I saw. We need to get in touch with NBC.

10. faygokid, a British news article about Obama's trip did say that "strict protocol" meant the British
PM couldn't appear at a press conference alongside Obama when he hadn't made a similar press conference appearance with McCain in May.

Here's the link to that story:

http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/news/article-1038705/Obama-gets-quiet-welcome-flies-Britain-breakfast-Brown.html

I'm not a fan of Andrea Mitchell's, but she may be right about protocol. I have to admit I don't understand protocol.

11. Thanks. But she has built a track record now.
I think she used "protocol" over substance.

This is far from an isolated incident.

I appreciate your post, but this was a rip job. A brief one, admittedly, but Andrea is becoming a hit-and-run practitioner like Bob Novak.

A Corvette is probably beneath her. I imagine she hasn't driven in 20 years. Chauffeurs for Andrea, as she lectures us.

19. She went over the edge the night Obama hit the 3 pointer
She was on Hardball and Tweety was asking her questions and she was pouting. Saying stuff like "we don't really know WHAT is going on with Obama in Iraq because he wouldn't allow "real" reporters to accompany him. Then Tweety would ask some general question like: "Obama was shown with lots of black servicemen and women. Is the ratio that high or did more black servicemen show up to see Obama." Now, if you've been to Iraq (as she has) and seen servicemen (which she has) and are professional (which she was not) you could answer that question.

No.

Andrea said "how can we know? He won't let us report on the trip."

It was the worst and I was completely neutral on Andrea up to then. I sent MSNBC an email complaining and have noticed she's been dreadful every since.

We really do need to raise hell when they are unfair. McCain is trying to play the refs so we need to strike back or all the news will turn into a Rush and Hannity show.

12. Yes, but to call it an insult to both McCain and Bush?
She could call it a violation of protocol, but to call it an insult?

The way I read the article, the British Prime Minister thought it would be a violation of his protocol to have met McCain in May without having a press conference and to now meet with Obama and have one. I don't think Sarkozy has hosted McCain in France before.

18. protocol is different in each country
The British PM goes to Parliament every week (month?) to get insulted (asked questions) by MPs. It would NEVER happen here (the PM gets jeered almost every time) and the Brits would never do it to the Queen.

Maybe, if you're the prez of France protocol will allow you to do what the fuck you want if you think your 8 year Freedom Fries nightmare is coming to an end!

Maybe.

I mean, O'Really "destroyed" your economy with his boycott. You're prolly REALLY happy those creeps might get defeated.

One more thing about France, they have some tough racial relations problems now. I wouldn't want to be dissing a black guy. It was good theater for Sarkozy.

6. She's awful
They played the clip of Obama saying "who doesn't want to spend more time in Paris?" and Mitchell was giving it the old "Oh, well, he risks coming across a bit John Kerry here, remember when John Kerry looked French?"

Political reporting at it's absolute finest.

22. lol, You have to wonder
what these people do with themselves on their free time. There must be no self reflection once they're off the clock. No person with a brain that works could possibly believe that the right wing freeptards are competent enough to still run this country. These people reporting the "news" don't give a shit about anything but their own bank accounts and how they can make more money. Hell? HA, if these people actually believed in a heaven and hell, we wouldn't be in the situation we're in now. Now I'm not a religious person at all, but I am so glad to see a Democrat like Obama use religion for good and not evil, like Republican leadership has done for the past 8 to 20 years.

15. if you liked her, you should have seen David Brooks on PBS
he went on a LONG tirade about how bad the Obama speech was, followed by an even longer one on how BIASED the media are....against MCCAIN!!!!!!, in which he repeated the tired saw about the media voting 92% for dems

course he forgot to say WHO owns the media, and WHO determines what is covered and what is not

he forgot to mention the Pew study of media coverage of the 2000 election, in which SEVENTY FIVE percent of media coverage was favorable to Bush, etc

Shields just sat there like a putz, not bothering to disagree at all with his media characterization

what PLANET do these cretins fly back to every night?

McCain gets away with almost every lying blob he spews, and when he very occasionally is called on something, it goes away instantaneously

General Electric is the BIGGEST defense contractor in the World! Does anyone expect Tweety (Who Works for NBC.. A GE Company) to be anything less? Tweety is a whore who must pay his mortgage and do what his masters tell him. I don't watch cable TV... it's a waste of time.

21. It is Hardball that is the problem, as I see it.
NBC has its left leaning program in Countdown, and tries to balance it with Hardball slanted to the right. I don't watch it anymore, and I'd recommend others do the same.

Notice how back in the day, Hardball had all the good guests? Lately they just have the same old pundit faces in their little boxes on the screen. Countdown is where the good guests go now as his ratings have gone up.
