Poll question: Which TV Personality Would Make the Best VP for Obama?
Edited on Sat Jul-26-08 12:04 AM by Walter Sobchak
We all know that the average voter doesn't really follow politics.

If we want to win in November we need to tap into that large percentage of the population which is more familiar with quality TV than presidential politics. I racked my brain to come up with compelling, interesting TV personalities that would add some color to the ticket and generate pure excitement.

Here are the best choices I came up with. Feel free to list others if you can come up with them.

Billy Mays:

"The Birdman" Coco B. Ware:

Suzanne Sommers:

David Blaine:

Man, I almost forgot, Huell Howser:

It was a total turn on when he looked completely lost in the 1992 VP debate.

"Who am I? Why am I here?"

Oh baby!

His voice is irritating, and he has that quirky eye-lift, but he could come over and clean the messes in my house for me.

Uh-oh. I thought I was in The Lounge.

15. How about Luke Spencer from General Hospital?

He was Mayor of Port Charles for a while, so he has executive experience.
He brought down the entire Frank Smith mafia and saved the world from being frozen by the Cassadines.

Hell of an impressive choice, if you ask me.

just sayin...

Then again, they could use Herb Alpert's "Rise" as a campaign song, which would be way cool.

27. Yeah, I was thinking Huell would be a good choice too. They could send him to negotiate
with North Korea.

Kim Jong Il could show Huell stuff around Pyongyang like that pyramid-shaped hotel, the giant sculptures of his father, and mass games practices, and Huell would say stuff like "That's amazing," "This is a great adventure," and "Hah!" Kim Jong Il would feel so good about everything by the end of the visit that it would completely change his view of people from the outside world.

I believe she would be a peace maker and be against premeditated wars based on lies.

31. Of those, Huell Howser.
I only recognize 2 on your list; of those two, I'll take Howser over Sommers any day. I've met him, many years back. He can charm the rural, the older, the whiter, that might hesitate.

I don't watch enough tv to know many tv personalities. A couple of interesting additions might have been:

Tony Shaloub

James Roday

Pauley Perrette

At least, if their characters, rather than the celebrity him or herself, were on the ticket. ;)
