More bad news for McCain
Sen Obama's acceptance speech, in front of 75,000 plus, falls on the 45th anniversary of MLK's "I have a dream speech" on the Mall, while McCains' speech will go up against the Thursday night NFL season opener (NY Giants-Super Bowl Champs-against the Washington Redskins). I'm just wondering if there will be 75,000 people in the whole country that will be watching him?

3. I know I'm paranoid, but it's almost like the republicans want to lose
They nominate a guy who looks like death warmed over. He commits a gaffe a day. He talks about keeping soldiers in Iraq for 100 years and rattles sabers at Iran when the majority of Americans want the troops home. He talks openly about he doesn't know anything about the economy, and he embraces George W. Bush's ideology.

Then when Obama is out showing the world what a superstar he is, they send his guy to talk in front of cheese or at a German restaurant, where he gets snippy, which plays into the Grandpa Simpson stereotype that he's trying to avoid.

Now they've scheduled his big speech for the NFL opener.

Everything Bush has touched in his life has turned to shit. After 8 years, apparently the entire GOP has been infected with the reverse Midas touch.

4. Fine by me!
I love the smell of republi-CONS self-immolating in the morning.

This is actually great news! I always hate it when the bad guys get the last word. That's the last image/speech/impression you're left with from convention season: them. But if he's a guy who still has not fired up his own troops, and there's some big-ass football game scheduled that night, it won't be hard to guess which event gets better ratings and gains much more public awareness and enthusiasm. We need EVERY advantage we can get. Especially if they keep backing up their convention later and later and later so they still get to go after the Democrats.

8. My husband said the same thing, and he wasn't referring to
the NFL opener or MLK aniversary. He just said he thinks the Pubs chose McNuts because they don't want to win. They've created such a mess, they want to leave it for someone else to clean up! I can't say that I disagree with him!

22. Agreed
They also know they can't win with the Repug name tarnished, so they put up a fall guy (McLame) and are saving their REAL candidates for 2012 when they can point to whatever mess is remaining and claim that they can take care of it. I'm hoping the American people will be aware enough to recognize bullshit when they hear it. The Republican party has never made things better for the average Joe. Never.

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN2529053820080326

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - The National Football League and NBC will likely move up the time of the league's September season opener so it won't conflict with presidential nominee John McCain's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention.

However, probably won't make much difference. It still interferes with the convention.

Expect a big bounce for Obama after the Democratic National Convention...doubt that McCain will get much of a bounce from the Republican National Convention.
