Obama gets "6-7 point BOUNCE" after trip abroad
As for McCain's visit to the dairy section of a Bethlehem, Pa. supermarket, no bounce.

http://politicalwire.com/archives/2008/07/26/obama_gets_bounce_from_overseas_trip.html

When asked about the political ramifications about his recent trip abroad, Sen. Barack Obama told the New York Times, "I wouldn't even be surprised if in some polls we saw a little bit of a dip because we've been out of the country for a week."

However, at least two daily tracking polls show Obama getting a decent 6-7 point bounce.

Before the trip:

Rasmussen: Obama 46%, McCain 46%

Gallup: Obama 45%, McCain 43%

After the trip:

Rasmussen: Obama 49%, McCain 43%

Gallup: Obama 48%, McCain 41%

1. But did the pollsters ask respondents to factor in BOTH the dairy visit
AND the bowl of saurkraut at the German restaurant in Columbus?

Damned liberal media!

8. I actually tried a Bahama Mama some time ago in Columbus in the
German Village.

It was pretty good.

I guess the McCain camp is having trouble getting the press to cover their events.

It doesn't look as if Obama's campaign has the same problem!

9. They are good
As for McCain's Columbus trip it was kept very quite and his crowd was hand picked and
P.D.O. pretty damn old ...... it really was pathetic ... too bad they didn't announce his visit
I know he would have gotten a "warm welcome."

I keep thinking "Washington Generals" when I see McCain now.

10. I'm a little suprised at the low turn-out for McCain events.
I thought the local GOP organizations were relatively well-funded with some heavy-hitters getting people to events, etc.

It doesn't look like they're all too enthralled with their nominee!

"Another Bahama mama, Senator? More saurkraut?"

11. At Schmidts Sausage House the crowd you saw was ....
.... hand picked so as to keep the word down about Obama's visit ..... After 2004 and what
bush has done if a McCain event was known about before hand @ least 250 people would have
shown up to protest.

13. Well bless those 250-plus people who would have shown up.
I just love it that McCain is playing to empty venues.

19. I was wondering about that... weird that they didn't announce McSame as Bob Dole's visit...
... to German Village.

Any local info on who the hand-picked GOP Mom was for the grocery cart photo op?

4. Obama had a very good week on his trip
"John Weaver, for many years Mcain's top political strategist, said it was a big mistake for McCain to dare Obama to go to Iraq, only to have the country's Prime Minister endorse Obama's plan to withdraw U.S. troops in 2010. It is going to be very hard for McCain to continue to argue that American troops should be in Iraq for 100 years if the elected Iraqi government doesn't want them there. McCain can probably change his position without being accused of flip-flopping (e.g., by saying something like "If the Iraqis now feel we have secured their country, it is fine to leave") but it will be very difficult for McCain to claim he has better judgement than Obama on foreign affairs. This trip was a huge gamble for Obama, but he pulled it off flawlessly. He may not have any executive experience in government, but his political instincts exhibit perfect pitch".

5. Battleground states
Can someone explain why it is that why there is a poll out showing Obama losing ground in key states while he gains ground nationally? The media has been reporting on this all weekend.

6. The Media Will Do Their Best to Undo
that. If this AM's shows are any indication of the week long bash after the tour.

15. I watched Lou Dobbs weekend show for 5 minutes
Every piece mentioned was an attack on Obama. It wasn't even the militia man himself hosting.

After that I said...Prison shows are fucking better than this shit.

18. Obama goes to eating establishments and Bars
and sits down and eats with people from the community. Other than the bowling nonsense he does very few stupid photo-ops like the Bethlehem grocery store.

Plus I think he likes trying out beers accross the country. Just a hunch but Obama strikes me as a Micro-Brew sampler type of guy.
