Does anyone else notice
a hint of resentment among the republicans and their media lap dogs over the way that Brack Obama is recognized as a true leader on the world stage, while John McCain's campaign is engaged in a humiliating decomposition?

Last week, I saw a female republican from Congress claim that President Bush is extremely popular in Europe. I know that large crowds turn out when he travels, but they tend to be protesting a man they view as an international thug.

Today, I'm watching Obama on CNN, and I think the questions betray a media agenda. Barack Obama is, as usual, handling himself in a dignified way.

1. Jealousy, Jealousy, Jealousy
I am hoping Obama's team can work behind the scenes to promote this meme. It is very damaging and absolutely true.

2. I noticed that....
People are waving the flag when both shrub and Barack are in Europe.

It's just when shrub is the one on TV the flags are burning.

3. Yes and I also notice that a lot of it is pro forma - they really don't like McCain either

His little affectation of chuckling while he tries to make a condescending point is irritating - even if you agree with him.

It is a signal of a kind of a personality disorder - we have all had friends like that - we just don't spend much time with them.

4. It's the political media that has the problem
They are the ones who decided that McCain was the cool kid and that they wanted to have a beer with Bush and did their stories accordingly. The problem is that the American public is told how to feel about a political figure by the political media. The political media makes up its collective minds and cranks out the "news" accordingly.

5. a little bit more than a hint
but on PBS, they sorta tried to make the point "McCain is great too" and the German woman went right along with that, but the French woman would have none of it. She said, 'we may like and respect McCain, but he is seen as a continuation of Bush and nobody here wants that'.

15. I saw that interview too
and thought it interesting that the French and Brit reporters were then given most of the remaining interview time and we never saw the German person come back on screen. Not sure if she had to go but it made me like Margaret Warner just all the more.

9. I EXPECT the McCain campaign to react badly to all the good press
that Obama's been earning...

But I'm finding it amusing to watch the media mouthpieces stomp & opine and generally twist themselves into unbecoming semantic knots trying to minimize his accomplishments, or trying to maximize McCains...

13. It sucks to be on the bush side of history.
A requirement for the gop is to be able to lie with a straight face with very few exceptions.

That gop woman congressman knows damn well Europeans(who get the real news as opposed to the US mainstream propaganda nooze) burn bush's effigy in protest of his bombing War On Iraq.

17. lol- "humiliating decomposition"...
Edited on Mon Jul-28-08 08:42 AM by npincus
I'm guessing the Repub you're referring to is Heather Wilson? She has been particularly delusional in her observations on cable tv. I think that's why they (cable networks) cart her out, like Hannibal Lechter, to spew her brand of reality.

Absolutely, I agree the Repubs are steaming with envy... instead of feeling chastened and humbled that all this is a consequence of their miserable performance... as great as Obama is, he is certainly elevated by the utter collapse of public confidence in their government.

I think McCain's explosive temperment is out of the bottle, and his campaign's flailing about ("decomposition"-lol) is the result of that. How I HOPE this unnatractive and un-presidential elemnt of his nature is on display at the debates!!!

:)
