Obama gives Brokaw the "STONEWALL" |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-27-08 12:36 PM by President Decider
Ok, here's my take on Obama's stint on MTP this morning:
Brokaw came out with his "front office" marching orders in hand: Goal of the day - Get him to say something he regrets. If you can't break him down, try to get an exclusive where he gives you some "table scrap" of information nobody else has.
Brokaw couldn't break Obama so he immediately went after the VP announcement or any morsal of information that the Repukes could use to figure out Obama's strategic thinking process. What did Obama do? ... He laughed in Brokaw's face and basically said, "over your mothers dead body I'm giving a slime bucket like you ANYTHING!"
Screw Brokaw . . . I hope when Obama wins it he has a list of all the people in the MSM that tried to take a dump on him and I hope he uses that list to maks sure they never get an interview and their seats to every single one of his press conferences are located somwehere out on the lawn.
Furthermore, I hope Tim Russert (God rest his great soul) is looking down and watching and I hope the day Brokaw kicks-it, Russert meets him at the gate and says, "Sorry Tom, I can't let you in .... you ruined my show"
Thanks ... I feel better.

1. I'm surprised he even sat down with Charlie "Capital Gains Tax" Gibson ... |
|
He and Georgie S. ought to be banished forever after sorry debate "moderation" job they did.
And on the flipside, I can't WAIT for President Obama to give the FIRST QUESTION at his first press conference to none other than ... HELEN THOMAS!

5. HELEN THOMAS!!!! Yes!! I was thinking about the interview Obama 'needs' to do |
|
and she jumped into my head instantly. He should sit down with her NEXT WEEK and have a nice chat.
180 degrees away from Bish not calling on her for the last couple of years out of spite.
As a value-add, you get the whole "Man, is he ever presidential"kick.

3. The media keeps saying Obama is "defending" his trip |
|
I don't understand why Brokaw et al feel that Obama needs to defend his trip at all. I'm completely perplexed by that. This is what happens when I stay away from main stream media for so long...shock sets in when I finally tune in.

9. It's the old tactic of characterizing a strength as a weakness |
|
When he wins the election, they'll say it isn't a mandate no matter how much the spread. An old Rove tactic.

10. Thank you! I've been completely dumbfounded, after that fantastic trip and the connections |
|
he made, to hear people talk about Obama 'defending' his trip. What the hell is there to defend?? He acquitted himself beautifully, was given a warm reception by heads of state and was met by excited and happy crowds, waving American flags (and not burning them).
WTF is there to "defend"?:nuke:

24. I work with soldiers and their families in Germany |
|
and they are still waiting for that "help" that Bush said was on the way. If anything needs defending, it's "Help is on the way."
Bush has six months left. McCain's campaign pledges appear no more "promising."

Making media list enemies is something W does. Obama can handle the heat. I think he actually enjoys sparring with these idiots sometimes.

TV is Brokaw's venue and yet Obama looked much more comfortable. Brokaw must have watched the tape of himself and banged his head against the wall.

15. I cant watch that crap |
|
but it is good to hear that Obama appears to understand, unlike 90% of our party's leaders, that the media schmucks are not our friends, that instead they are playing GOTCHA! and have studied the RNC daily talking points just before they went on air. And St. Timmy was just the same. In fact I do believe he held a patent on GOTCHA!

23. I loved Obama's response to Brokaw's |
|
attempted gottcha question about David Brook's column. Obama openly laughed right in Brokaw's face and dismissed his ridiculous question about David Brooks' column saying most of the coverage was very positive and for every column like Brooks', which you chose to showcase, there were 9 others that were very positive.
He was in top form on MTP today. Brokaw, not so much.

Just saying...Remember his Bush button inside his lapel that he would flash to certain people? That told me everything I needed to know about him as a "professional."
