Why Hillary will not be VP. |
|
Bill.
He will be a hinderance to an Obama administration whether he intends to be or not. There is also the small issue of Bill's library and the donor lists that he refuses to release. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of paperwork the vetters would have to sort through to clear Bill's actions since leaving office.
It's great to think of the two 'finalists' for the Democratic nomination teaming up, and would be a great story. That would end when the GOP starts bringing up the mountains of bullshit (whether legit or not) having to do with the Clinton legacy and name.
The negatives effect not only the campaign, but actually RUNNING the country if he does get elected. Sorry, but when one takes a hard look at the situation, the negatives of such a pick are much bigger than the positives.

1. Clinton's negatives might be greater than the rest of the Democrats' combined. |

2. Water and Oil don't mix. |

True grass roots organizing, challenging the American people to participate in their government, refusing to pander, these significant characters of THIS campaign.
The old school Clinton and DLC ways are over. We welcome their support but cannot share the ticket with one of their ilk.

3. I know Obama would really seriously consider her |
|
because of her competence and because she's tough as nails.
but I think Bill's library funding is just too much of a problem.
I think he's saving a very special prize for her a bit down the road and until then, everything is mum.
It was floated back during the primary that Clinton was willing to consider appointing Obama to the Supreme Court. He might be considering the same thing.

4. She's not qualified for the SCOTUS |
|
Sorry but she isn't, she has no judicial experiance. What might work is an appointment to, say, the Fifth Circuit and then move her up to SCOTUS if she shows a flair for it. BTW, I know Chimpy has gotten the utterly unqualified onto the SCOTUS but I'd like to see a reversal on that.
I can also see a couple of Cabinet positions she'd be well suited for (i.e. Education or HHS) or a diplomatic appointment (say, Ambassador to the UN).

11. No, put someone like Erwin Chemerinsky on the court. Look for her for NY governor... |
|
I think if she were to start building up NY State's economy, etc. and work as an "administrator" there and not get caught up in the politics of congress, where she always seems to be pulling the DLC strings, etc. she might have a better option for higher office later than if she stayed in as senator.
Chemerinsky, as one of the nation's greatest constitutional scholars, i think would be a fine addition to the court, and might help us fix things like corporate personhood, etc. that is sorely needed in future court rulings, and also if and when members of Bushco have their unconstitutional lawbreaking cases appealed to SCOTUS too.

5. Bill Clinton would be the biggest asset in the Obama administration |
|
it's absolutely foolhardy and a perpetuation of Clinton-hate to use right wing talking points against them.

6. Yeah, I'm sure having a two-term president as the spouse of the VP will work out really well. |

8. Hillary as VP would have enough problems as it is without Bill. |
|
Leave her in the Senate. Move on to someone better suited as VP.

10. Gore was worried about Bill's influence in 2000 |
|
That was really brilliant.
You need to worry about getting into office. Once there everything takes care of itself. A VP spouse is irrelevant.
Obama succeeded in the primaries by not out thinking the situation. He didn't look at a state as one that needed to be downplayed due to lack of delegates.
I don't care about Obama's rationale for picking or avoiding Hillary. But if he uses Bill as a tipping point then he's falling into the predictable trap of too much emphasis on peripheral factors, with fear too high on the list.
