Why do the Republicans always get to have their convention last? |
|
I remember the same thing happened in 2000. I think that gives McCain a little bit of an advantage because he gets to see who Barack chooses at his running mate. Then he gets to block Obama's bounce by announcing his pick and then have his convention a couple days later. Just wondering if RNC and DNC work together to choose their dates or do each of them submit their own date individually? Just curious...

6. Any idea how far back that tradition goes? |
|
I know that the party in power goes second but how and when did that arrangement start?

But I thought the party currently in power went last when it came to conventions. I can't remember who went first or second in 2000. But I think Gore should have been able to go second because the Democrats held the White House.

The Dem convention was a week after the GOP convention.

as soon as the Dems go late the GOP will go later. Their strategy is also honed for the last three days as long as fraud keeps them in the striking distance. Dems need time to build and speak. The GOP needs just one big attack and obfuscation as cover for fraud and the punch of big money and media.
The Dems cooperate all too easily, all too confident in presenting a superior product to the majority. The Convention bounce will always be helped in its settling or deflation by the media.
