McCain and dementia
How many of you have had the misfortune of having a person close to you come done with any form of dementia? If you have had that experience, have any of you noticed what's been happening with McCain? The slips (over and over), mis-statements, quick anger, forgetfulness, etc... I don't know how he has been when at home or off the media watch, but it sure looks to me like the begining (well into) of dementia.

2. Or stress
Edited on Sun Jul-27-08 07:57 PM by Mz Pip
I know when I am under stress I get angry and babbley and spacey. I would make a crappy president (though I do think I would have done a better job than Bunnypants).

Either way, I don't want someone who can't handle stress or has the beginnings of dementia anywhere near the Oval Office.

I think this can be a problem with guys who've had their careers handed to them. They haven't had to work hard and learn to manage their time or their stress. They get testy when things don't their way. They expect things to go their way because that's how it works in their world.

Obama has worked hard for his success. No one handed it to him. He didn't come from a rich family or a prominent family. I have noticed how well he keeps his cool. You always know what you'll see with Obama. No matter what the question, or how tight the situation is, he doesn't get rattled. I can't imagine giving a speech in a foreign country before 200,000 people. I would totally freeze up in panic. Obama did it like it was an everyday occurrence.

That's the kind of person I want in the White House.

On edit: Besides that. McCain is just too old. If he doesn't have dementia now, he may very have in a year or two.

3. Dementia Or Dishonesty? Senior Moments Tend To Favor Him
The press really has not pressed him very agressively during interviews. CBS simply editted his response, while other reporters do not challenge him when he makes a wrong answer, while Obama had has reported (Couric and Brokaw) go after Obama a bit on the whole surge issues, rather than simply accepting Obama's initial answer. With McCain, the best you are going to get is an initial tough question, but no follow-up.

4. One of the first things my family noticed
before it became clear that my grandmother had dementia was that she started to mix up time sequences. She started to place events in her life in the wrong decade and confuse the people who were involved. It was very alarming. I am sure there was a point in time when she was aware of what was happening to her and she set out to try and cover things up. Then came the day when she forgot who my father was.

5. I've seen it in alcholics and manic depressives, too
With McSame's temper, he could be manic depressive and in a down phase when he screws up, a manic phase when he goes off on people.

9. If McCain was going to be President
He should have won the nomination in 2000. It's 2008 and he's just too old for this now. I really can't imagine this guy holding office for potentially 8 years from now.

10. Thank you!
McCain's dreams were dashed on the rocks in 2000. All he's shown is that as long as he has a chance to become President, everything and everyone can go to Hell. I don't know what's more pathetic: that sweaty hug he gave Dubya in 2000 or the fact that he's running for President when he should be enjoying his golden years.
