Had a myspace friend send out a misleading video about Obama...
It had a heading like "Do you really want this running the country?" And had some bullshit Jeremiah Wright hit job.

I told her it was misleading and pointed out a few things in McCain's record like how he has a poor rating by Veteran's organizations on military related votes, that he gets the most 101 things about Iraq wrong and how he's been in Congress for 25 years and still didn't even know how Social Security worked. I did it nicely too. And I referred her to Cliff Schecter's book as a good analysis of McCain's voting record.

She deleted me, lol.

I guess some people like to make attacks but they don't like to be called on their ignorant bullshit. So for that I have to tip my hat to the oblivious, keep working hard at being ignorant, just don't complain about how our country has gone to hell, because you helped cause it. :)

2. I wonder how her health care insurance is.
Edited on Sun Jul-27-08 09:29 PM by patrice
Do you suppose she'll turn down the cost efficiencies and improvements in coverage that are headed her way in an Obama presidency?

8. What you missed the latest right wing talking point on whats wrong with the health care system?
Is it insurance companies driving up the costs? nope. Is it the ever raising cost of medical care caused by the drug industary? Nope. The reason health care costs are up........ drum roll please............. the welfare queens are getting free birth control.

10. I always like when they always throw out "He's a socialist"
Or some derivative. I always reply back to that one with "Well, I'm sure according to your principles you won't accept Social Security or Medicare, and I'm sure that you pay privately for your mail to be delivered and that you or any of your family has never been a part of the public school system."

I have never once gotten a reply back to that. :)

14. A "socialist" believes that the group/society owes its individual members
something for what they, as individuals, contribute to the group, i.e. the group can't expect cooperation, obediance to law, productive labor, etc. for NOTHING, which is what we've got going on right now.

What DOES it mean to be a member of the group referred to as American? What does it mean to be American? Those who oppose the responsibilities that the group OWES its members, those who oppose what they call Socialism, would tell you that for your cooperation, obediance and productivity, as an American, you get economic opportunities, i.e. jobs or your own business. So that's what it means to be American?

No matter how perfect your work, your job can go away through no fault of your own. Property and paycheck have arbitrary values that are gambled away in derivatives in international markets that are completely beyond our control, by forces that are created and sustained by taxes on our labor. So what EXACTLY is owed to us for the investment of our lives/time/labor/talents and skills??? In exchange for the REAL value of our labor, we get arbitrary value controlled by others? Would any sane capitalist engage in such a contract?

Well maybe I'm a capitalist too. For the REAL value of my capital, my life/labor, I expect REAL values in return, Real Values such as Health Care, appropriate and complete Education, sane National Defense . . . stuff like that. If it's Socialistic to say that, then so be it.

11. it was one of those people that I just added
Didn't ever know who it was. I do have a few myspace Republican friends, we don't really talk politics much, a little. But they have a sense of humor about stuff and aren't hatemongers. It's one thing to be able to articulate viable Conservative principles and policies, but another to be an ignorant hatemonger, you know?

6. I'm just reminded by this of Dorothy Parker's line ...
(Challenged to use the word horticulture in one of her snappy comebacks), she said:

"You can lead a whore to culture, but you can't make her think."

13. Some people actually try to not know anything
It's like if they put that much energy into learning something they might actually be in touch with reality.

16. I just had a similar experience with this blogger...
http://wwwwakeupamericans-spree.blogspot.com/2008/07/manchurian-candidate-muslim-takeover-of.html

There is nothing unusual about the blog, just the usual "Obama is a secret Muslim who will kill us all" posting. What I find amusing is the debate I just had in the comments section. I posted under the name "Tom". Was I being unreasonable?
