Obama Goes To Hospital For B-Ball Injury

CHICAGO (CBS) ― It wasn't all politics for Sen. Barack Obama Sunday night.

The Presidential hopeful stopped in to the University of Chicago Medical Center, Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine at 8 p.m. to see an orthopedic doctor about a sore hip.

A spokesman for the senator says too much time on the basketball court is to blame for the aches and pains.

He occasionally squeezes in games on the campaign trail.

Obama departed the hospital at 9:48 p.m. At which time, he told reporters: "it's all good, just a little basketball injury. Butt I think I'm going to be good in about a week."

2. Another link: "Everything's OK" After Obama Visits Hospital
http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/07/27/politics/fromtheroad/entry4298018.shtml

From CBS News' Allison O'Keefe

(CHICAGO) - After publicly mentioning a hip injury last week while visiting the troops in Kuwait, Barack Obama decided to have it looked at tonight.

He arrived at the University of Chicago Medical Center at around 9pm ET for a scheduled appointment.

Per his senior strategist Robert Gibbs, Obama injured his hip while playing basketball a few weeks ago. It has been bothering him a bit and he wanted to have it checked out. And, of course, he wants to get back on the basketball court.

After about 50 minutes inside the hospital, Obama walked out and said that he had some "small x-rays" taken but that "everything's OK."

"Its all good," he said as he left the hospital which was held open late just for this appointment.

With his signature confidence, Obama was upbeat. "I think I'm going to be good in about a week."

6. What do they mean they had to hold the hospital open late for his appointment?
Aren't hospitals open 24/7????

8. Only the emergency room
Other departments keep regular business hours.

4. Hate To Break It To Obama, But 46 Isn't Young - Use An Elliptical Machine
Yes, compared to John McCain, we all look like we should be in Huggies, but at 35+, we just aren't hat young. I pretty much gave up basketball after age 35, not because I don't love it, but because the body just does not heal like it used to. Cardio is now pretty much limited to low impact type of stuff. One thing is that a lot of folks in their 40s start to make the switch from running or basketball to bike riding or other types of low impact exercise.
