KEEP THE SMEARS ALIVE!!!
Edited on Mon Jul-28-08 06:56 AM by hexola
I really hate this "Fight The Smears" site...I just dont get it. Why remind people of this crap?
www.fightthesmears.com

I almost dont trust the people in charge of this site - and I will go as far as to suggest whoever is running "Fight The Smears" is from the other side.

While there have been plenty of negative things said about Obama, every single one of the so-called "Smears" is one of the FreeRepublic PET causes. Right down to the "Obama dissed the troops" claim...the birth certificate, the whitey tape, etc.

None of these smears has ever made very far past the pages of FreeRepublic - So WHY does the Obama campaign want to keep them alive? Why even mention something most people have never even heard? (for good reason!) As far as Im concerned this site does the opposite of what it claims to do.

Even worse the campaign has much classier section called "Know the Facts"
http://factcheck.barackobama.com/

Sorry - I just dont like that "smears" section...perhaps well intentioned - I think it is having the opposite effect.

1. I've gotten every one of those smears in e-mails. I think Obama's
campaign had to do something. Now we have proof via links to debunk the crap that's flying around. And no, I never go to FR, so it's not just that site.

2. I Like The Idea
It is a mistake to ignore smears and hope they go away, or to "refuse to dignify them by a response"

If nothing else, this gives his supporters a place to find quick rebuttals and to refer people with questions.

3. John Kerry tried the tactic of ignoring it and hoping it goes away...
...we saw how that worked.

No... each and every smear needs to be shot down immediately and to as many people as possible.
