Franklin Graham as his running mate.

McCain is such a weak candidate that he can't choose anyone who will upstage him politically. So he's forced to choose someone who is as weak as he is, or weaker, to preserve his "presidential stature."

But in choosing someone who won't upstage him, McCain dooms his own ticket, since at that point it will be so completely unimpressive that voters will turn away from it in droves.

There has to be a Hail Mary veep pick -- or as some reporters called it last week, a pick who will "scramble the jets" / "be a game-changer."

Bloomberg was mentioned. And Petreaus.

But Franklin Graham is the one who can "scramble" the fundies.
